Can someone explain Dig Site Depletion to me?

My first playthrough I was taking it easy all the way through Muerta, doing all contracts and getting 100% genomes as it suited me to get the first series of unlocks as they were offered, but then I heard that you can get permanently locked out of unlocking dinosaurs altogether if you exhaust dig sites early, and now I've been panicking and constantly restarting campaigns and then not finishing them because I get spooked. Can someone allay my fears or do I have to optimize strategically?

Do not worry about it. When you unlock new islands you will get new dig sites as well.

I'm on the last island now (not the freegame island) and I did also take my time and unlock most dinos as early as possible.
Some of my sites turned red and are empty now but I still got all of my dinos to 100% so I don't think you need to worry.

There are 4 different Settings for the Dig Sites.

Yellow means you haven't touched it or its got dinos you haven't seen yet

Blue means you have gone to it at least once.

Red Triangle means you have exhausted it of all currently availible dino fossils. MEANING say you go to 1 and it only unlocks 1 dino you dig untill it depletes. and you can't find that fossile there any more. Later it will have new dinos placed on it and you can now get those and not the other ones.

Blue Check mark means you have uncovered all availible dinos from that dig site and there are no more that will pop up there in the future.

I just wanted to make sure that there's nothing stopping me from 100%ing everything eventually. I don't care how long I have to wait and work to do it, as long as it can be done.
