gift shop
the third (and last/most expensive item) in the gift shop is absolutly useless

the night goggles no matter what price i ask, it never sells. there is zero interest in them making them a useless choice

Personally I never had any problem with the goggles. Sure it takes a bit of the time, but in the right location (near hotels and viewing areas) and with the right price (32-35 dollars max) they can sell like pancakes. If you make the price too high guests will of course ignore the shop.

Location and pricing is everything with shops.

Could be that shop is in a "cold spot", as in other shops service the nearby structures so nobody ever uses it. Had the same issue when i had a fast food and a restaurant near eachother, the fast food was closer to the hotels by a tiny bit and could satisfy the need, so everyone just used that and ignored the restaurant :)

Shops sell 3 kinds of things. If you have product 1 and product 2 they will want product 3 available someplace. If you just sell the same thing at all the shops the guests tend to be less satisfied. Also have the shops spread around as Karmaterror mentioned. Attractions have a value for demand for each product you can provide. Once you have a demand met, more is a waste of space that you can use for another product. You can view the demand value using the management view button on the left.

Just want to add about pricing: I price things for children at 2x cost. Things aimed at adults at 3x cost. In some cases one can charge more for things and some cases one must charge less, depending on demand. Once the park gets rocking (4-5 stars) you can generally ramp the price up.

Just a note, you can have 100% satisfaction across the board selling the exact same item at all your shops. I always sell the most expensive thing at about half extra than it costs, just enough to make it run in the green.

My experiments so far conclude that item itself dosent matter, just proximity to viewing gallerys/hotels and covering the 4 bases in each "hub" area, food+drink+fun+shopping in any combo of shops.

Ofc each hub area sould also have a shelter+storm protector+monorail station. Keep the hubs together including the viewing galleries. If you spread out your galleries then youl have a hard time building enough shops and other structures to cover them all :)

PS Disclaimer - I only played up to island 4 so far (and the sandbox). Just started Sorna tonight so maybe its different economy setting here where items will matter :)

the thing that bothers me is the management view setting. It always resets after you change it. I tried making a topic on this a few weeks ago but no one answered. Is this a bug?

i know how the management works, and i know how the demands work.

out of all the shops, this is the only item that NEVER sells.
then i have the other shop, that is making over 7000 per minute.

my healthy park https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1929694562
my gift shop at the hotel making good cash even when i evacuated people from a storm
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1929703514

that same gift shop turned to night goggles (without storm) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1929695137

good price, good location yet zero demand

that is the same on every island i play on, and it's the only item i have issues with
all other items, from every other shop be it food, clothes, gifts, you name it is earning me large amounts of cash

There isnt item demand though only service demand, as in the stat it boosts.

So if you have two boosting the same stat (shopping) near eachother one will always remain empty even if they sell different items ;)

Could you do a screenshot of the area the shop is in?

Haha ya ninjad me with the screenys, is that a toy shop 2 stores down from it?

Also cloths shop in that run?

If so theres the conflict, too many stores catering for shopping in too small an area ;)

it is a toy shop, without ,the hotel would be at yellow fun in the management view
i know where you getting at, that the toy shop is "stealing" the customers of the gift shop

and you might have a point, but that does not explain why that same gift shop, selling a different item then night goggles IS making a large profit while still having that toy shop close by.

the issue is only with goggles, nomatter what or where even if it's the only building

Hmm i dont have that on mine, the nv sell as far as i know. I only ever have 3 shop runs though, i treat that 3 shop run like a storm protector or substation, imagining it casts a circle around it. and caters for whats in its circle. Other shops in that zone will be ignored based on what seems to be distance to major structures.

A wierd thought....

What if the NV only sells well on the night map?

Il tweek one of my parks later and see if its same for me :)

PS Could try something dedicated to fun like arcade or bowling at that location. Might solve the fun issue without needing shopping customers. Or try dropping the price slightly, i peg 20 buy items at 30 sell

I tried adding a gift shop to map 5 and selling barbasol its fine but selling nvg its the same as yours, completly empty.

Forgot to test it on the night map though. Il have a go later, would kinda make sense lol

ye it would, but there is also a day and night cycle on normal maps so it should atleast have "some" use
Iv not had a day night cycle yet, is it a setting? I was looking for it after i saw your screenshots. All through my campain so far its just been stuck to one time each map. I almost thought it didnt have it lol
