I posted another question about storm defense earlier and while I haven't gotten an answer, I have noticed that the more prepared I am, the less the storm. Once the game even gave me a hint. I got a mission to increase my shelters, which I ignored, and immediately a storm killed a huge chunk of my guests.

Geez I usually keep my guest shelt near perfect most of the time. i usually tranq the stingy dinos then place em back.

should only ever really have to worry about the raptors, indominous rex and indo raptor. unless it's a really bad long storm, then it's likely to be chaos.

Therein lies the problem. The T Rex is easy. There is usually only one to an enclosure. A storm hits, tranq him. Simple
But there are always LOTS of raptors, and they're fast. Even with the accuracy upgrades, hitting them can take a while and by that time you could be looking at several fence breaks and dead tourists. Of course, if the storm takes out the wrong power plant you can't fix the fence or even attempt to tranq the raptors.

Here is the question I posted this morning about defense systems. I'd still like to know if overlapping them works.

Well all of this doesn’t matter because my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pc crashed and now it doesn’t work any more. Take 5 years to open anything up now. Got to get a new one now. I seriously wish they optimized the game for a pc like mine 1.80gHz with 512mb gpu

lol You joking right? Those are HORRIBLE specs for modern gaming. You gotta keep up. Devs can do so much for those that unwisely chose to play with inferior hardware.

Storms happen at semi-fixed interfalls based on how (good) you are doing. I also noticed that even if you have had a horrible storm that ruined your park, reloading a previous save file before the event will not prevent it from happening. At the same moment the storm will still happen again (but twisters are placed at random), which means it's somehow fixed in advance based on your progress, preventing reloading as a sollution in order to circumvent one.

To my experience, it does not add up very well. A good example is that if these adds up, you only need to build 3 to get full coverage. Well I tried it and got a damaged building.

@ OP:
Just don't worry about the storms. If you get a warning, just open all shelters and tranq single-standing carnivores. I just get around this by - I don't joke - double wall my exhibit. I will post a screenshot of such a setup soon.

EDIT: here is my setup on isla Tacano for carnivores (if you want a map view, just let me know) where I have taken a double fenced approach. To spare some electricity needs, the most outer fences at the bottom are non-electric.

1. above left contains 5 Deinons + 2 Ankylo
2. centre: 4 velicoraptors (mission)
3. right: 1 baryonyx and 2 diplodocus (again from mission and was going to use this pen for something else.).

IMO it is sad that some dinosaurus have a low social threshold so that you can have one or two. So silly. I thought to get 3 or 4 baryonyx but once hatched only one is acceptable it seems. Boo. And I eventually figured out that there are no storms on Isla Tacano. Wtf.

I am now on the next isle (Isla Pena) and got a tornado at the start. Nice!
