The game is fine on it's own. But immersion mods imo are a neccessity. A few i had in mind was like by being hungry carnivores become more rabid, having higher attack and significantly lower defense.
AI visitors panicking and running when a dino has been sighted.
Some reskins of dinos (the ones in Warpath would bring some great nostalgia).
Universal should allow us to mod in a workshop like Total War or at least follow DotA 2's style that has a featured system where an approved one would end up on the shelves on the DotA 2 store (free would be preferable).
I'd be fine with that if it was taken well care of. I dont want people avoiding paying DLC's cause of mods. Ive seen it in Total War Rome 2 where people put mods up... same with Civ 5 actually
Warhammer player here. Agreed. People who use mods to avoid paying DLC are just cheap losers. Even worse when they blame that the faction DLC lacks content and gameplay mechanics.
But to be fair if you visit Warhammer 2's steam forums, most people actually enjoy the DLCs. Actually scratch that, we are begging for it lol. But modding is undeniably an important factor in Total War, despite the downsides. I'd even be glad for reskin mods alone in Jurassic World
I mod in skyrim, Mass effec((a little bit)) and in Witcher 3. Total War: Rome 2 I mod a little bit as well but its mainly Skyrim and witcher.
I wont mind mods, but I think that the game needs to focus more on its core instead of allowing people to make mods. Plus its Universal who controls that anyway.
Heck, changing the lifespan for all dinosaurs is a mod.
Giving the animals different stats is a mod.
Making the grass purple instead of green is a mod.
There won't be mod support from the developers but that doesn't mean there will be no mods at all. Plenty of games without mod support have had mods come out for them later on.
It simply means; Don't expect any serious mods to come along for the first 6 months.
I dont like mods that change lifespan... cause then that iwll be just way too easy to complete teh game.
However, mods that change AI? Sure. Mods that change the textures? Sure.
but certain mods should never be included. >:(
I'm sorry....If you think it's fun to clear dead corpses for half an hour to 45 minutes and to get replacements going then you've got a weird sense of fun.
I want my 100% genome dinosaurs to live for a very long time, because, it's more than normal that they would live for a long time.
and I can guarantee you that skin mods will be taken down quite rapidly because those are a major concern for Universal and reason why there won't be any official mod support.
Literally this.
JWE is not a standalone game, it is explicitly tied to a brand. Therefore, unfortunate as it may be, the product must be one that reflects said brand. Modding is highly unlikely, as that completely nullifies any control over quality/content Universal may have. [/quote]
Pretty much. I fear that Frontier are being tied down by Universal which prevent Frontier to have a free reign to the JWE game, there are so many ideas and feature that they can add to the game but in the end, they will have to get Universal permission first as its their brand.
So the guys in suits have stronger word in that, then game developers. They maybe would likely to add mod support, but I´m quite sure that owners of brand want to have game "clear" to add only official content.
I cannot confirm this.
My savegame doesn't work for people who don't use the same DLCs I use.
Someone even asked me on Nexus to upload the DLC game files for. oO
I also recommend that in my save as otherwise my savegames get overwritten everytime you start the game.
But again, there is an error when you try to load a savegame with DLCs.
I have proof for this as a Nexus user told me:
https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6959851-various-jwe-savegames/?p=65801866
So who is "your friend"?
Addition:
I finally got over my lazy ass and fire the game up without DLC content enabled on my side.
This is what I get, when I try to load my savegames:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1589176807
Doesn't matter if Steam Cloud is active or not, I get that error in both cases.
Therefore either your mate pirated the game or he listens to the name "Fairytale".
Especially if you don't own the DLCs how will you get the textures and game files of it?
Through a savegame?
I doubt any developer is that dumb and saves textures and game files into a savegame (even though the savegames can be 10 MB big :O)
