Social herbivores are trash.
Seriously, why are all the movies about carnivores being the problem?

Aside from the occassional obnoxious tornado, even my indos are darlings compared to the petulant menace that are the social herbivoes.

"Oh I need 4 friends or I'll rampage immediately"

"Oh you better not forget to incubate another friend for me if one dies or I'll rampage!"

"Oh but don't you dare go over my often paradoxically short population limits or I'll rampage!"

"Your electric concrete fences are nothing in the face of my LONELY RAGE!"

In the end, what, an Indominus gets agitated by a storm and breaks out. Maybe. Doesn't always. Quickly taken care of.
These spoiled little brats however? One gets pissy and breaks out. Then the rest get angry because she left. Then they break out while I'm helicoptering her useless rear back to the enclosure.

It got so bad with a bunch of stegosauruses I eventually just tranqed them all and left them to die out of pure spite.
I'll take the carnivores any day. They're far more well behaved, give or take an eaten guest or two.

Most herbivores are herd animals, only comfortable in groups, while most carnivores are solitary. There are exceptions of course, but I like the way the game simulates herd behavior. Certain dinos prefer to be in large groups, and you have to learn which. If you don't want or can't meet the demands of herd dinos, don't hatch them and focus on dinos that are comfortable alone or in small groups.

Don't defend this ♥♥♥♥ mechanic, guy. The very fact that Frontier managed to incorporate population counts within enclosures without making all the annoying social/total pop requirements ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dynamic relative to enclosure size can be excused by absolutely nothing. No zoo game in the last 30 years has dropped the ball on that EXCEPT Evolution. Total garbage. Frontier really shat the bed with dino ai. I'd say they shat the bed with all Ai, but there is no guest Ai. All guests do is find a broken wall and then run INTO cages. That's ALL guests do.

Evolution is the only zoo game in which the enclosure size is obviously measured (forest and grassland density are measured, so enclosure size is CLEARLY accessible) that doesn't include dynamic population sizes. You could literally build a cage that encompasses the entirety of an island, but put two rexes in and they bee-line each other for a fight.
Only complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (most of us) would be satisfied with this purchase, ESPECIALLY after a playthough.

They are a pain. The Solo Carnivores are easier to care for. Just Tranq them prior to storms.
The Social Herbivores are a real pain. If one gets upset because it has a hangnail or something, the entire herd will be rampaging.
Not to mention how fast diseases spread amoung the herd.

At least prevent dinos from breaking out. How tf can a stego break down a fully fortified electrical wall? Making them unhappy and become less interactive would be the way to go, especially for Dracorex and smaller herbivores like Torosaurus. And don't even get me started on Dilophosauruses.

upgrade creaction lab to hold more hatchery's, pick a non-modified high social dino, wait for all them to reach 100% incubation and release, so they meet their social needs right away
keep social needs close to the ''too much'' so you have some wiggle room is 1-2 die

after that you can modify them for better ratings otherwise the incubation would take too slow,

para, maia, mutta, stego needs atleast 5-6 dinos for social needs, and you don't need electric fences for them anyway,

keep checking your dino's age, incubate accordingly, if you see one around the expected lifespan incubate 1-2 new ones

It can be a pain to keep on top of especially once the park gets big.

Better not make my enclosure to large or I'll wander away from my friendos and through a fit

I kinda like that they made hebrivores a bit more dangerous then they were in genesis, where you could leave most of them running around with guests without problems.

The worst thing i found out is that after a while the game starts to bug. All my medium sized herbivores and a few random dinos that didn't fit the group start freezing and refuses to eat or drink. At first i tranq them and relocate them to a water supply and it fixed the problem. But after a while that method doesn't work anymore and they all died to starvation.
