Dino's in tree's
When a dinosaur enters a patch of trees it becomes like an assasin hinding in a bush, praticly invisible and when I click on them it automaticly deselects my dinosaur. Is this a bug or a feature?

I am not sure but I always felt its a feature to give a bit more excitement by loosing your problematic dino in a dangerous situation. :D

Feel the same way Fidel, quite annoying when trying to manae your dinosaurs, especially ones that need to kept in a densley wooded enclosure. Also stops rangers from getting to them whioch is quite annoying.

Oh please Todd just laughs at other people. No-one can match oblivion or skyrim. Can't wait for the unofficial patch to starfield and tesvi.

You can still find them with rangers and the acu team. You just have to mouseover the right place.

I've had luck with using the map view to see dinos otherwise hidden by trees.

Aye to actually be serious now, go on map view and click on the dino from there, it's been selecting them fine for me that way as a work around.

Feature, they hide inside the forest.

Really? Hmmm odd, don't know whether I just got lucky then the time I did it.

I think it's a feature (although it may also be to avoid camera issues as well as to hide the dinos clipping with the forestation), but you should still be able to select them when giving tasks to the rangers or ACU helicopters.

It's very much a feature.
Think raptor breakout and the buggers ♥♥♥♥ off into the treeline, breaking visual contact - you can still see them on the map, because tracking implants or something.
It would be even better if they weren't mindless killing machines akin to guided missiles that go around killing guest after guest, but rather hid and hunted only when hungry.
That would make having an escaped raptor population hiding out in the wilderness, picking off your guests a problem and a thrill.

This is happening for a reason, and I'll explain exactly why

Not all the trees in the game are "trees"

In order to keep performance degrading, when you make a THICK forest, some of it gets painted as a "canopy" Look close from the tree tops and you will see what I mean

It's just a solid, darker green mass vs the rest of the trees

1) you cant drive a jeep through it (if the player is driving it)
2) you cant move the camera through it (the camera will bounce to the tree tops)
3) when dinos try to pass through it, they sometimes get stuck. The dinos have code telling them not to "collide" with this texture (basicly it means so they can walk through it), but it's BUGGY and dinos can get "stuck" in it sometimes
4) also notice it doesn't animate like the trees. It's a static texture (for performance)
5) Jeeps auto driving to do things CAN go through it , but they sometimes get stuck and end up with a ? mark saying they dont know how to get someplace. Again, buggy collision code.
6) This can also prevent you from clicking on a dino because you can not "click past" the canopy :)

The devs should have 100% disabled any and all "collisions" with this texture so you could drive a jeep through it and move the camera through it.

You can prevent this "canopy" by keep a forest "thin"
