I just researched Success Rating 4.0. I outfitted a Hammond Lab Creation Lab with three of these upgrades to get a bonus of 120%.
This means: I could manipulate the genome of a Dinosaur to -20% viability and still have exactly 100% chance for the embryo to hatch, right?
But if that's right... I could work around the Deinonychus genome to bring it to -139% viability. Even with my bonus of 120% it still has -19% chance to hatch... this would be a zero chance, no matter how often I try. Right again?
Having 3 SR4 upgrades, you'd still have to have at least -119% to even get 1% of them hatching. Anything lower automatically makes the hatching fail, even if it doesn't fail the instant you start it.
I'm assuming this was implemented this way so you don't actually have a legitimate way to get the best possible rating of a Dino... well, without using Combat Infamy anyway
I thought it was that way, but the -139% made me wonder.
Edit: Seems viability upgrades aren't added to the viability stat. Add the two together for the success chance (in my case -47% + 60% = 13% success chance)
You need 2 Success Rate 2 upgrades of 20% each and and one Success Rate 1 of 10% to have at least a chance for it to hatch at all. You need to add up to 1% or higher. With these, your Spino would hatch with a 3 % chance.
