Idiotic Missions/Contracts
Hi All,

Am now anout to start the 4th island. Am loving the game so far (once I got past the raptor issue). However, the one thing that is really getting me wound up now are the missions I keep getting to have Dinosaurs fight each other. For the life of me I cannot workout why these keep coming up. To date I have yet to accept one of these missions/contracts as I feel it goes against everything we are trying to do in the game (Yes I realise it is a game, but am not a fan of killing off my dinosaurs for no reason).

These can cause quite a bottleneck when it comes to completeing missions lines for a park division. This in turn means that some buildings/upgrades etc... are not unlocked.

Am I the only one that thinks this is rather backwards ?

Really.. please go back and watch all the movies.. the game is based on that universe.. it is NOT a "lets create life and happy rainbows and sunshine"

Am sad I know, but I was watching Jurassic World last night whilst playing *Hangs head in shame*. During the scene where the Indo-Rex escapes Owen says to use Lethal Weapons. The parks owner quite clearly states "No, we have invested $26,000,000 in it". Also do you really think John Hammond would allow dino vs dino fights ? Not a bloody chance.

I agree InGen are ruthless, but they are 100% focussed on making money. They would not waste millions of dollars to have a dino fight.

Cool way to complete the contract and not have any dino's die. You can transport the 2 dinos you need into a pen, wait until they start fighting, and the contract completes, then tranq them both and move them back to the original pens.

No dino's lost or dead, and contract complete, sometimes it doesn't take longer than them just staring at each other and walking in circles prepping for the figh tthat it'll trigger complete, sometimes it'll trigger when one is nearly dead, but you can tranq the one who won first, and get your rangers to med the one who lost, either way no dino's lost.
I do realize the detail from the game. I think Operation Genesis has more to offer than this, As a good point is i want to shoot dinosaurs we could do it before why not now.

Ok, so I am on Isla Sorna. Nice big park with lots of potential. Have managed to get roughly half of the park sorted out. I have my big Herbivore paddock, T-Rex and Raptor paddock and an Indo-Rex paddock. All is well. Every dinosaur is 100% Comfortable. I decide to make a new huge herbivore paddock, so before I start I get all 9 of my ranger teams to restock all food in all paddocks. Whilst I am doing this I get another idiotic contract from security. It is "Assist in 2 dinosaurs combat" I reject it, I want no part in these pathetic contracts. So as I begin to layout the new paddock I get another security contract "Have a 2v1 dinosaur fight". Again I reject it and carryon with my contruction.

A few minutes go by when suddenly I get "Fence Broken" warning. I look at where it has happened and it is on my Indo-Rex paddock. However, the Indo-Rex is about as far away as is possible from the break, it's comfort is 100%. So obviously sabotage. So as I am tranquelizing the Ido-Rex and fixing the break I get more "Fence Broken" warnings. This time it is on my T-Rex/Raptor paddock but also on my Herbivore paddock. Before you know it I have 4x raptors having fun, 1x T-Rex looking to pick a fight with everything, 10x Herbivores freaking out about the T-Rex and an Indo-Rex that is stoned.

So I go into full blown panic mode. Have both my ACU choppers up and running tranquelizing anything that moves and every ranger repairing fences. Took well over 10 minutes to get the chaos under control.

So I save the game and go back to a save I made 2 minutes before the mayhem started. I check every single dinosaur and everyone of them is 100% comfortable. So again it comes down to sabotage.

This is where this game makes no sense at all. Dont get me wrong I love the game, I really do. It is just this idiotic idea that if you dont do contracts/missions for a certain division that they will destroy the park in which they work. Now Industrial Sabotage/Espionage I could understand. Rival companies like in Jaurassic Park setting out to screw things up, but employees of the park upset because you didnt want your dinosaurs, that lets not forget incertain circumstances cost Millions to incubate, to kill each other.

It is 100% backwards thinking. An idiiotic design flaw that I cannot believe made it through Q&A. Too add insult to injury, I have also had 3x contratcs/missions to obtain a genome of dinosaurs that I cannot even find in my excavations map. They are not there. So again I have to dismiss these missions as I cannot complete them. Then starts the sabotage all over again.

Please for the love of god FIX FHIS CRAP !!!!!!

My heart goes every time a storm approaches on Muerta and I'm hovering over my raptor paddock in the ACU heli like a hawk, just daring them to walk near a fence

With that amount of chaos going on I'd have a blast. I wouldn't reload a save either because where's the fun in that? (each to their own though)

As for the fight contracts, I've only done one so far which was the whole dilo/raptor part on Muerta because it was a main. Any contracts that require carnivore/herbivore interactions get insta-declined and I go find a new one. I didn't notice if declining contracts upped the sabotage risk on a division but I'll check next time. Maybe I'm just not far enough in yet

I did look at my divisions on Muerta and saw that the science sabotage risk was high so I popped a couple of easy contracts for them to bring that down. I also double fence the more promiscous carnivores just for security sake anyway but if there's gonna be a full on riot potential maybe I'll stop doing that on future islands...
From a gameplay standpoint it works. I haven't played enough planet coatser, but in the tycoon versions you had to maintain rides and even then one could catastrophically break down and kill people, no matter how much you spent or how carefully you maintained it. This was a challenge to be overcome. In JW, dinosaurs getting out is that equivalent mechanic. I simply don't think about how stupid the situation that led to the emergency is, i just get down to fixing the problem. It keeps me on my toes. If there wasn't SOMETHING to trigger this frequently, there simply wouldn't be enough game and it certainly wouldn't feel like anything to do with JP/JW.

As to the contracts and missions the deparment heads give you. In the first island they point out that these contracts come from outisde and the department heads are just passing this on to you. I imagine there'd be plenty of military contracts where they would want to see the martial efficacy of certain dinos. So while its seems cruel and unusual keep in mind its not the don cheedle lookalike that wants you to make em fight. Its someone like donald trump. And when i think of people who i could imagine watching two dinos fight and enjoy it a picture of donald trump with a big #1 hand, popcorn and a foam dome full of beer slips very quickly into my imagination. So just try to rmind youself the contracts come mostly from idiots and some of em just want dino snuff for no good rerason except it gives them a hardon.

If security gets mad, they unlock all your gates, break your walls. I don't know for sure what entertainment sabatoge is, if anyone has any info on that, would be appreciated. I know the medical sabatoge just makes me dinosaurs sick ( atleast it's not endangering my whole park of 7k visitors. )

I've had both Entertainment and Science turn my power stations off. Which in turn means the raptor fences are off

The cilivian buildings at least do have some management makes me believe they tryed that for the rest of the game. The missions are kinda bland most of the time their the same.

btw rapotors love grasslands
You only have to do them once in your life but I understand that you don't want to be forced to make your dinos kill each other.

Personally I found its just like in the movies that some "evil" people are trying to force you to do bad things in the name of science. So its perfectly fine by the Lore. :D

I have fun on those missions, Whos next a tirke or an anklo, I usually have milliuons by then
Welcome to Frontier-developed games. Visuals and audio are top-notch. Gameplay is shallow, boring, buggy, inconsistent, grindy, and uninspired.

yea pretty much, its why I stayed away from recent tropico's and that railroads game, but I am hoping for the best in this. They have had a couple decent games, though generally i agree frontier is a very shallow developer in regards to gameplay usually.

Since you don't own the game, why don't you try it? I'm not trying to be snobby, I'm really not! But you might find that it's more fun than it seems of the surface. Besides even on low quality this game looks amazing X3

Hahaha Movie quote appretiated X3! Anyways yeah I think entertainment shuts off the power thus either shutting off the electric fences and/or opening gates. Obviously that's not a good thing. I'm tepted to put an emergency place right outside the raptor enclosure just so they can't kill people that were too slow to get to a bunker. We don't want another Mr. Arnold case on our hands now do we..?

I'd be careful of that, if the raptors spot your guests running into the shelter they'll run over and park themselves up outside the door
