It's a game and you're raking in big money anyway. If cloning is so expensive, then why not doing something like oh i dunno produce 1 male and 1 female and let them breed in captivity. You then use the kids as bait for the same price as raising goats.
You asked who would waste money cloning dinosaurs just to feed them to other dinosaurs.
Imagining if Jurassic World/Park was a thing, it would make more sense to have some male dinosaurs so that they could breed (not the dangerous ones). It could potentially be cheaper than importing hundreds of goats to the island just to feed your carnivores. Plus, if it were real, people would pay a fair bit more to see that.
Now, we know that's not gonna be in game. But because it's a game and we will potentially have limitless cashflow, why not then clone cheap dinosaurs for food?
From what i have seen thus far, the carnivores should attack and eat other dinosaurs. However, to answer the OP, it doesn't seem like it'd have any benefit to the park or dinosaurs
This whole idea is completely absurd if Jurassic Park was a thing. Dinosaurs would be WAY too valueble to be food. Do you think they feed Zebra food to Lions at the Zoo? As far as you are concerned, they could have a Zebra couple mating just to make little Zebras to feed Lions, right? It's an insane idea.
Anyway, I'm sure nothing in the game will stop you from having big carnivores and smaller dinos in the same enclosure so the big one will hunt and kill the small ones. I think that was possible on Operation Genesis.
Doing something for the first time is always expensive, in science, but then it gets drastically cheaper as time goes on.
So mass producing these dinosaurs would get cheaper and cheaper, that is inevitable.
And eventually these cheap herbivores you mass produce could rival imported cows and sheep in low prices.
And people are paying for a spectacle, and as we saw in the last movie people got bored quick with the attractions, so the park had to innovate all the time.
So having guests pay extra to watch a carnivore hunt down period accurate prey wouldn't be a stretch.
But I wont do something silly like hoping you don't own a real business, cause that would just be rude.
