Cannot understand getting to 50% Genome from missions/contracts

If I get a mission/contract to raise Genome to 50%, what do i do if I am at 100% or close to that? I just created a Triceratops that was at 89% Genome, and when i incubated it and released it, the mission/contract.did not register it. Am I supposed to start over with the Tri? Then how to I remove the 89% one?
Been looking all over for this one, cant find any help... appreciate any assistance!

You are given those types of contracts when there is a genome UNDER 50%, it doesn't always specify which dinosaur you need to raise the genome percentage for, but you will not get that contract if all of your available dinosaur is past the 50% mark.

You don't need to worry about the Triceratops, you cannot lower the genome. Instead, find another dinosaur you have not upgraded. HOWEVER, you can get that contract if there is a dinosaur for you to UNLOCK on that island through a reputation reward. If that seems to be the case, feel free to terminate the contract if you feel like it will take a while to meet your goal.

I have 2 missions: Acquire 50% Genome: Ceratosaurus, and Acquire 50% Genome: Edmontosaurus.. Both my Ceratosaurus & Edmontosaurus dinos in the Creation lab under incubate Dinosaur are 100%. So what am I missing as i dont get it.

If I'm reading this correctly, you have misunderstood the situation.
The percentage in the Creation Lab indicate the dinosaur's maturity/growth. It is fully incubated and ready to be released into the park. Just select "Release Dinosaur" in the creation lab.

If I misread it and you're sure it's still the genome percentage that is at 100%, cancel the contracts. (If it's a mission rather than a contract, you can retry the mission)

Fairly certain those missions wants you to go out, get fossils and extract the dna till they reach said % level.

Thanks for the reply Radical, the bar that counts up to 100% says Genome Progress, so i guess it is, I just dont understand why I got it after I was passed 50%!
I cant cancel it, because that is the mission for the Dracorex, and the other mission is for the storm defense station.....
So Im kinda screwed. I guess I will have to restart the level, I dont know how else to get these things, since they are mission required.

I dont think you read my post, I clearly stated that I was above 50% (at 100% actually) so I cant complete these missions. I am going to put it in a post at the official forums.

Missions and contracts can be cancelled through the management menu or the control panel. Missions can be restarted. There's no need to restart your island.

If I cancel the mission, with the reward for the dracorex be available as another mission reward? If the same mission pops up, I still wont be able to finish the 50% mission, unless it happens on another dino that I have not brought to 50%.

Is it a mission or a contract? If it's a mission (which is prompted by a unique menu screen and some sort of large "accept mission" button), you can choose to start or restart at any time through the control panel. If it's a contract (which is prompted by a pop-up and explicitly stated to be a contract by the dialogue), the objective is random with it's only purpose is building reputation.
If you get a contract you don't think you can handle at the time, cancel it. You can always request a contract or wait for one to be assigned.

OMG... nevermind... I didnt know i had to "start" it. I thought it was running, I just saw the bottom to start. Feel really dumb.. It was the 3rd part of a series of missions, just have to release one of both now. Sorry I confused the !!!!! out of you. But really appreciate your assistance!

Yeah I got this problem too. I have a trike at 100% genome and it then gave me a mission for 50% genome. I even incubated it and released it but idk

Hey Sunbathing. Were you able to resolve it? All you have to do is to start the mission, its on the lower left.
