2. Sometimes a fight will end with one of the dinosaurs running away. I think this is random.
3. In Sandbox mode, you can disable dinosaur fights. However, outside of Sandbox mode, large carnivores will always try to fight other large carnivores. Large carnivores will not fight Sauropods and they can coexist together.
4. Some herbivores will attack carnivores, but they will never attack an herbivore of a different species. Herbivores will only fight their own species if their Social limit is exceeded.
5. The "Aggressive Instincts" gene does not actually change the dinosaur's behavior; it only changes the stats. Doing this increases the dinosaurs rating, making it more valuable.
6.
7.
8. There are major updates every few months (There was an update last week).
9. Helicopters can only tranq dinos, and rangers can only medicate them.
10. T-Rex doesn't want to be fed, she wants to hunt. Can't just suppress sixty-five million years of gut instinct.
2. No.
3. Use sandbox mode and turn off combat.
4. Nope.
5. Just a stats increase.
6. Fight for dominance and herd.
7. You will be making much less money and there will be a timer.
8. There are currently 2 DLCs in the works. The DLCs almost always go paired with big free updates as well. Dinosaurs attacking jeeps will likely never happen.
9. Only the chopper.
10. personally never had this problem. They generally only hunt when hungry.
11. Carnivores will often eat their kills.
12. Fights are based on stats but there is some small amount of chance.
to 3: putting off combat at all is like removing the only challenge and a big part of the fun in this game I think.
to 7: what does a timer mean? I dont want to have a limited time. Is this an option or is this always on? Or what kind of timer are we talking about?
Since you are so obsessed with fighting dinosaurs, infos for campaign, challenge mode and unaltered sandbox settings (which can alter dino behaviour):
+ Small and large carnivores do NOT attack each other (includes Indominus Rex)
- - Indoraptor does attack though (EDIT)
+ No carnivores attack giant herbivores
- - Indominus Rex does attack though
- - the new Nigersaurus is attacked by large carnivores, treat him as armored herbviore instead!
+ small carnivores do not attack armored herbivores
- - treat Nigersaurus as armored in terms of this rule
- - by implication large carnivores do attack armored
The classification (giant, small, armored etc.) of a dinosaur can be found in its info tab (or online).
There are few more factors like tranq state, storms, mission scripting, but that's basically how you can keep dinos together in enclosures.
6: Socialising. Always cute, even with Sauropods. But what else are you looking for?!
7: Challenge mode sets a target time for finishing the map under challenge rules ('par time'). You can play longer, but for some steam achievements you need to beat the clock.
You are rewarded dino skins.
EDIT
Thank you!
To the posts above: big predators can kill giant sauropods if they tranq-d. Un;ike small predators, hybrid velociraptor does not escape from fights with big predators and one of them will be killed.
It should be noted how the game is deep to the point where I've discovered certain features only after 50 hours, while finishing the last map in the base game. For example, it turned out all those sabotaged gates and electric stations happen only when you have low rep with your entertainment/scientific/security divisions.
pro tip: tranq all your predators (raptors included) when you see an upcoming storm warning. It's easy and will not force you to open shelters to save people once they'll inevitably escape during the storm.
You loose a bit of excitement, but at least storms do not put them in an agitated state anymore.
Dinos do not attack just because there is a storm, but because their comfort level drops.
And if it reaches the threshold they attack fences. So modify them accordingly
2 fights will end end in a draw if both dinos health fall to between 2% and 50%.
12. There is a bit of random chance to it, but stats need to be fairly close for it to matter.
