Sandbox and Dinosaurs
I'm a little confused here, so maybe someone on here can clarify for me.

In Sandbox mode, how are we supposed to incubate locked dinosaurs?
I'm assuming Fossil/Dig Site system is a campaign only thing.

I only have like 6 possible Dino's in sandbox mode, and i'm missing things like T-Rex and Triceratops for example.
Both of which, if I load my campaign save, are 100% genomed.

Are they missing due to only two islands (Matanceros & Nublar) being in the list?
Do i need to actually four star the later islands to have later dinos?

Bit odd it would not just be tied to what you've researched if thats the case, as opposed to completing an island.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Well your problem is this you not played the based game enough or you not load up a main game save (there was a popup saying load your old save to unlock stuff in sand box mode). Maps dinos and research are all unlocked by getting the related island to 4 stars.

You can see what needed on map selection, dino shadows and research centre.

Fix is to load up your old normal game and check islands are at 4 stars.

Or you can just grab and use a 100% unlock save.

Sandbox is an extension of campaign play. Not a starter area.
Everything unlocked in campaign play is available in all sandbox islands.

By implication that means that one has to play campaign mode and unlock everything there to have access to all dinos, buildings, researchs etc. in sandbox mode.

There are two ways:
Obviously playing the game... it is not that bad. Your issues should be solved along the way.
Finding a savegame from someone who has unlocked everything.

Why exactly your two dinos are not available I cannot tell without looking it up myself, I do not care much about sandbox (and I have everything unlocked and access to anyways).

This statement is innacurrate to the new sandbox system

You need to unlock dinosaurs, research, and buildings in the main campaign before you can use them in sandbox.

And what part in your opinion?

I get that. What I don't understand is why I have Dinosaurs available in my campaign game that are not available in Sandbox mode.

Clearly it's not as simple as "you unlock a T-Rex in campaign, and you have access to the T-Rex in Sandbox Mode" or i'd be able to incubate one.

It doesn't seem clear what it is that prerequisites something being available (beyond just complete the entire game) as fossil progress/Research hasn't carried over.

Hm, I cannot reproduce your issue.
Seems everything works for me. Do you have a completed campaign savegame? I just continued the one I always used (the "pre-destruction" for researching new dinos to 100% and then saving it as "destruction" after killing the fossil center. dig team building, research center and the power generator ^^).
Seems that my previous progress on these islands is still tracked.
I never restarted any of the isles though.
I just sold all buildings to have a good load of money to make my "destruction" savegame. ^^

Just checked out Sandbox Isla Sorna:

That helped a lot! Thanks!

Didn't realise the Locked Dino silhouette's if you click them actually tell you in Sandbox mode what unlocks them.

So, Velociraptors for example (one I still need to unlock in Sandbox) says I need to four star Isla Muerte.

I figured they'd be linked to island completion.
It would have made more sense if research/dinosuars were linked to the act of research and fossil discovery but hey ho.

Least I now know what the game requires.
Thanks all for assistance!
