Xbox One Controller not working correctly
So, I had The Crew 2 for around 2 years now and the game worked perfectly fine with my Xbox One Controller that I use only on my PC, but after a few months without playing, I decided to come back to try and enjoy some nice races... Well, guess what? The game basically said "Yeah, I have no idea what your controller's keybinds are" and my controller is all messed up! A is down, B is UP, a lot of the other buttons don't even appear to have a function and pretty much everything I try doesn't work.

Does anyone know a solution for this? I found some discussions about this problem on forums, but nothing there fixed my issue.

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that your Xbox One controllers keys are not controlling as expected.

You mentioned that you have already tried some troubleshooting steps, can I check what steps you have tried?

Can I check whether you have the same issue when playing both wired and wirelessly?

Many thanks

I tried reinstalling the controller's driver, reinstalling the game, restarting the computer, changing the USB port, deleting the file with the buttons configuration so it would create it again, changing the file to "read only" so that the game couldn't mess it up if that was the case... Pretty much everything I could think of.

About playing wirelessly, I can't because my PC doesn't support Bluetooth, but I really don't think the problem is with playing wired, since it works fine in other games and so far this issue seems to happen only in The Crew 2.

OBS: Already tried a solution given by the community in the link below and didn't work

Sorry for jumping in, but did you change your which controller you were using to play? Like the new Xbox series X controller? If so it sounds like there are issues with that new controller with the Crew 2.
Try updating your controller firmware from the Xbox accessories app.
Then I'm stealing this from another thread, but try launching your game directly from Uplay USING the controller.
If none of those work, try downloading a custom controller config file from the steam community.

Good luck!

Hey there Kannabian,

Just checking in here following enfo's suggestions, are you still encountering the same issue with your Xbox One Controller input?

Thank you!

Sorry about not saying anything anymore, but my controller isn't the Xbox Series X. I bought a Xbox One controller (The old and black one) just to play games like The Crew 2 on PC and so far is the only game that is having issues with it. What's strange to me is that it worked fine a few months ago.

Unfortunately, yes... I'm still having the same problem. My controller isn't the new Xbox Series X one, but I tried starting the game directly from Ubisoft Connect and, although it recognizes i'm using one, the game itself just keeps with the same issue.

Thank you for getting back to us Kannabian!

Sorry to hear it's still not working, following the steps you linked above, may we know what Configuration you're currently using on Steam?

Is it still the Xbox Configuration?

You also mentioned that so far it's only The Crew 2 you're encountering this with, are there any other Ubisoft titles you've tried that aren't having the same issue?

I would also recommend verifying the game's files[ubi.li], to ensure there aren't any missing or corrupted game files that may be preventing it from correctly recognizing your controller

Please let us know how you get on with that, thank you!

Not OP, but my Wireless Xbox Controller was messed up playing AC3: Remastered, but was fine with Unity, so it seems to be something to do with the newer games

Thanks for sharing this!

We are aware that many older titles don't take too well to wireless controllers so do encourage wired if possible. :)

Pathetic excuse... you could have patched it... but no. 10 years later still the same problem
