Like that time when they introduced Wild Run update, which changed the game graphics, and suddenly all people with DX10 cards couldn't play it anymore. When that happened I was so glad I didn't pay for it, because at that point I had a graphics card, which didn't support DX11.
you buy the access not the product itself, tho yeah it's not really respectful of players as there was an offline mode
they said the crew 2 would have an offline mode when the server would be closing that's all we know
"They never scammed about the crew 1". Oh yeah, i totally remember, them issuing refunds to everyone who got their game taken away from them despite paying for it.
that is not a scam, it's in the Tos, it's legal, is it respectfull to players when there could have been an offline mode ? not really, ubisoft is a company not a charrity
we bought an access to a service, service is over, we don't own the product
if steam were to close, things would be the same
same can be said about league of legends, team fortress 2, overwatch 1-2, world of warcraft, final fantasy , fallout 76, and so on...
licenses not products, hard reality but it's what it is
With all due respect, you can choose to do all the mental gymnastics you want to, trying to cope and defend the company. I'm perfectly fine with calling out their scams.
It was obvious that the game will be closed at some point since its closed beta in 2014, before it was released. That's why I got the game for free during one of the giveaways, but never bought its Season Pass/Calling All Units update, despite 1/3 of the game was locked behind Season Pass, because I didn't want to spend my money on an always online game. That's why I bought The Crew 2 only recently, after they made $1 sale and promised an offline patch. Besides almost nothing is locked behind Season Pass in The Crew 2.
But I reiterate that removing the Crew 1 from people's accounts was a terrible move, one of the worst things Ubisoft have ever done.

Game closing down? Fine I get it. But removing the game you bought from your account? That's a whole another level of being a POS.
"if they'd taken your money and then not delivered the product"
Lemme check my account, boah. Golly Gee, there's ain't no The Crew in my Steam Library. But how could it be? I do remember buying it. Totally not scammed.
"all due respect" means a lack of respect in everything that follows and you succeeded"
Boo-freaking-hoo.
But I reiterate that removing the Crew 1 from people's accounts was a terrible move, one of the worst things Ubisoft have ever done.
We're essentially agreeing with each other.
Are you sure about that? You still should have The Crew 1 in your Steam library and have mouse icon next to your name, like you're still owning the game on Steam. AFAIK the game was removed from Ubisoft Connect/EGS libraries only. So you will be able to download it and apply community's offline patch to it.
Ubisoft just did damage control public op by releasing false information about LOOKING into POSSIBLE offline support for these two games.
They won't be releasing it. Maybe they'll issue another statement about not finding a way to produce offline support, but likely everyone will forget they even "promised" to look into that.

"We heard your concerns about access to The Crew games
Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.
We can confirm an offline mode to ensure long term access to both titles, stay tuned for more news in the next months." if the link gets taken down it's on their X account
not looking into possible offline support, but confirming there will be
you don't think they will*
i think they will, already enough backlash with the crew 1
+ news about the possibility of a ubisoft purchase by tencent
+ why wouldn't it be possible to just change a line of code that checks the server connection ? + just some stuff linked to save on server instead of local, i don't see the impossible there
They didn't. No reason to sweat for 2 and Motorfest.
Some empty promises will fix temporary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Maybe community will make offline support, like for CREW1.
