Ubisoft did a terrible move removing the Crew 1 game from people libraries, but сome on, man, the Crew 1 fate was obvious since its open beta, because it was an always online game you didn't have control over.

Like that time when they introduced Wild Run update, which changed the game graphics, and suddenly all people with DX10 cards couldn't play it anymore. When that happened I was so glad I didn't pay for it, because at that point I had a graphics card, which didn't support DX11.

they never scammed about the crew 1, terms of services
you buy the access not the product itself, tho yeah it's not really respectful of players as there was an offline mode

they said the crew 2 would have an offline mode when the server would be closing that's all we know

"They never scammed about the crew 1". Oh yeah, i totally remember, them issuing refunds to everyone who got their game taken away from them despite paying for it.

Usual practice when closing an always online game is to refund only those people who bought the game during the last few months of its life cycle or to stop selling the game long before it will be closed, the latter is what they did.

that is not a scam, it's in the Tos, it's legal, is it respectfull to players when there could have been an offline mode ? not really, ubisoft is a company not a charrity
we bought an access to a service, service is over, we don't own the product
if steam were to close, things would be the same

same can be said about league of legends, team fortress 2, overwatch 1-2, world of warcraft, final fantasy , fallout 76, and so on...

licenses not products, hard reality but it's what it is

Please point out where Ubisoft have attempted to defraud anyone? You do not own a digital game on any platform..you buy a licence to play the game and, legally, the licence can be revoked at any time if the publisher so chooses. Is it crappy? Yes. Is it the wrong decision? Probably. Is it a scam and, thus, illegal? No it isn't.

With all due respect, you can choose to do all the mental gymnastics you want to, trying to cope and defend the company. I'm perfectly fine with calling out their scams.

With all due respect, you're buying an always online game that doesn't use dedicated servers for its online connectivity, you should expect that at some point the game will be closed for whatever reason: its publisher goes bankrupt, its developer goes bankrupt, its developer releases the next game, etc. And you won't be able to play it, and you won't get your money back, because it's not a charity.

It was obvious that the game will be closed at some point since its closed beta in 2014, before it was released. That's why I got the game for free during one of the giveaways, but never bought its Season Pass/Calling All Units update, despite 1/3 of the game was locked behind Season Pass, because I didn't want to spend my money on an always online game. That's why I bought The Crew 2 only recently, after they made $1 sale and promised an offline patch. Besides almost nothing is locked behind Season Pass in The Crew 2.

But I reiterate that removing the Crew 1 from people's accounts was a terrible move, one of the worst things Ubisoft have ever done.

Game closing down? Fine I get it. But removing the game you bought from your account? That's a whole another level of being a POS.

Starting a sentence with "all due respect" means a lack of respect in everything that follows and you succeeded. I'm not trying to defen Ubisoft nor trying to "cope"...merely pointing out that at no point have they scammed anyone..if they'd taken your money and then not delivered the product then I would agree. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it a scam.

"if they'd taken your money and then not delivered the product"

Lemme check my account, boah. Golly Gee, there's ain't no The Crew in my Steam Library. But how could it be? I do remember buying it. Totally not scammed.

I don't understand why you're saying this to me, because that's what I said to you, what you just quoted:

We're essentially agreeing with each other.

Are you sure about that? You still should have The Crew 1 in your Steam library and have mouse icon next to your name, like you're still owning the game on Steam. AFAIK the game was removed from Ubisoft Connect/EGS libraries only. So you will be able to download it and apply community's offline patch to it.

There won't be offline support for CREW2 and CREW Motorfest.
Ubisoft just did damage control public op by releasing false information about LOOKING into POSSIBLE offline support for these two games.
They won't be releasing it. Maybe they'll issue another statement about not finding a way to produce offline support, but likely everyone will forget they even "promised" to look into that.

a bit of missinformation there

"We heard your concerns about access to The Crew games

Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.

We can confirm an offline mode to ensure long term access to both titles, stay tuned for more news in the next months." if the link gets taken down it's on their X account

not looking into possible offline support, but confirming there will be

you don't think they will*

i think they will, already enough backlash with the crew 1
+ news about the possibility of a ubisoft purchase by tencent

+ why wouldn't it be possible to just change a line of code that checks the server connection ? + just some stuff linked to save on server instead of local, i don't see the impossible there
Korneliy 3 de mar. às 14:51
They could do that to negate negativity on CREW1.
They didn't. No reason to sweat for 2 and Motorfest.
Some empty promises will fix temporary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Maybe community will make offline support, like for CREW1.

I don't think Ubisoft has the guts to mess up that badly again, especially with all the other controversies right now. They're already extremely screwed, with 3 nails in the coffin. They cannot afford a 4th.
