Not even, I think they are "almost giving the game for free" to then suddenly remove access from the game with the message "come enjoy your new adventures at The Crew Motorfest" when you try to oppen The Crew 2 (and I would not be surprised if they do "exactly like that").

They've confirmed that 2 and Motorfest will be receiving an offline mode. Believe me, if they end up lying, we'll make sure they eat their words.

Basically this.

They're essentially giving you the game for free so that down the line they can funnel people towards a new game via the news feed in the library. EA did the same when Heat had its first $3.50 sale. It was basically a promo for Unbound and later on they spammed a bunch of Unbound balance change patchnotes on the Heat news feed.
Sacrificing like $8 or $9 in order to funnel people into $70-100+ editions of a future game.
I don't mind it, I got it on my main. I'll just turn off the news feed for Crew 2 if they decide to spam me. I wouldn't touch a Ubisoft game for even $5, like Steep has had multiple.. steep.. discounts before, but for a single buck? I'll bite. A single dollar can't buy you anything on Steam, but $5 can and if you have $5 you should definitely buy a better game from a more deserving studio.

I dont care what they said, also I dont care if they do it for The Crew 2 and Motorfest, they still lied at "all their store pages" about their games and about The Crew 1 about what we players were purchasing wiith a scam and they still did not give us back The Crew 1 access.

"Come enjoy your new adventures with us" (I dont remember where it was advertised, if ingame when trying to start The Crew 1 or somewhere else)

If ALL THAT is not enough for them to eat their words I dont know what it is. They did not revert what they did and can still do it to both TC2 and Motorfest.
How you people are so open to scams to be this much lenient to whatever they come up with is beyond belief.

I think they are treating The Crew 2 as "beta trial for Motorfest" and when they decide it is enough they cut access to it and invite you to buy Motorfest (and again I would not be surprised if they actually end up doing exactly that).

I saw today, that multiple outlets are saying the Crew 2 will get an offline mode, for $1, it is tempting, but what they did with the Crew 1 is very shameful.

I think this bait and switch is most likely their plan. They will shut down The Crew 2 and force players to switch to Motorfest.

Also, the chase squad shown in the showcase (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nij-T01zQzk) seems to be heavily inspired by NFS (the art style has some NFS Unbound vibes to it).

Maybe they are hoping to lure some of the fans from other franchises who are unaware of The Crew's fate, and that is the real reason for the steep discount.
