People disappearing and appearing

I was doing some races and i suddenly saw mister stripes from this forum on the map. I tried to say hi but somehow , he keeps disappearing and appearing on the map. Is that something that he is doing himself or that the game is doing?
I have seen that happening with other players on the map as well , i thought they just tried to teleport to an other location , but he was just waiting there with his boat.
Did anyone els , noticed this, or is it my computer or network?

I bet you disappear when you look at the menu.

ah okay , so when ever you take a look at the menu , you will be of the play ground. Kinda makes sence.

I think you change "server" when you come out of menu.

I find most ghosts at areas where races end. So i think they finished the race and are looking what to do next or installing parts. But are still in my area, so i see them. If they choose another race and move somwhere else they disappear. That's my theory.

You get ghost form when you open to map. I like it a lot, it also makes it safe for users against other users that wish to ram and ruin your online gameplay.

no i dont mean the ghost thing. just the person being near me. then totaly disappears and then appears again. not the transparant thing.
