project cars 2 AI is awfull cause there is no challenge.
here it's very good i think.
The main issue is how unrealistic and unimmersive it feels. It makes zero sense how they slow down to a crawl on straight lines when ahead of you, catch up and overtake you when you make a mistake even with a 15-30 second lead or even the god-like cornering ability on some sharp turns.
I try my best to take the corner with the optimal speed and best line but I almost never catch up to some opponents in rubberband mode in the corners. Then they slow down to a crawl when there's a straight and allow me to pass, very humiliatingly so. I feel like Keisuke Takahashi when he first raced Takumi. Ughh
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I watched them go straight through civilian vehicles like they were ghosts. And they ALWAYS catch up at the very end. The hypercar races are supposed to be the best part, but they're ruined by these cheating AI. Thankfully I already completed them.. but ffs... what a headache. Crashed and flipped my car in the redwood forests, and almost lost a 50min race because the AI magically appeared to to steal the 1,2, and 3rd position. Thankfully I was able to catch up because they slow down to 15mph after they overtake you..
I have been sure to pass along all of the feedback on the AI and their ability to rubberband. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to share your thoughts on this.
It seems that nothing has changed and probably never will.
Feels to me like it’s only present on normal difficulty. In the same car I often beat hard opponents by 10+ seconds compared to how far I finish ahead of normal opponents.
