Never had so many problems trying to exit a game before. WTF! lol
So B brings up a menu and then I have to hold the left mouse button on the "Quit Game" until the meter gets to the end. OMFG! really?
EDIT: I was incorrect, you can access the options from in-game without a restart simply by pressing F10 and browsing from there. I don't know how I must have missed this tooltip but somehow I did. My bad.
I'm new to the game and stood in front of my first loot box ("live reward"? or whatever they're called in-game) like an idiot, because I somehow missed the message to hold Enter
It acts as a confirmation so you dont make a mistake. For example leave the game instead of changing a radio station or in your case opening a live reward by mistake with the wrong type of vehicle.
I had problems with this game when I was playing a free weekend back in November (northern hemisphere) 2018. I just could not figure out how to quit the darn game!
I also, still I guess, have this issue in the DiRT/DiRT Rally games. How do you just quit out of that game!?!?!?!
I mean, I can see your point on the quit command - but for opening a loot box? Or for driving a car? What mistake can you possibly make? unless you happen to be a Top Gear host... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1bsh5Ne3yU
For the live rewards its because you can approach a box with lets say a street racing car and switch to a drag car to get the drag parts. Without the confirmation you could press A by accident and waste the part on a car you don't need them on.
I can see your point with the good old " Are you sure " system but it would make a lot of thing way more tedious than holding the button for 1-2 seconds. Each time you'd want to open a live reward you'd have to press A then left/right then A again to confirm a simple action, in the end it would be longer and way more annoying. Same thing with the exit game, a separate menu would have to pop up and make the whole point of the fast "quit game" button useless. If you press start and quit via that menu you dont have to hold anything it quits instantly.
