Crew 2 looks worse than Crew 1

Why does the crew 2 beta look so much worse than the original Crew?

Hi Nick. I have looked through your The Crew and The Crew 2 Direct Comparision video two days before I found this thread. I have to say, I honestly could not continue watching your full video, and was forced to find something else, as I couldn't believe my eyes.

I'm not entirely sure what is wrong with your game, however, it simply doesn't look like it should, or how my game, or in fact, how other video comparisions look. Not only does a video like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jreLW1ZYXg showcase that The Crew 2 does in fact sport better graphics and sound, but shows that there is something up with the video, or the game that you posted/played. I played a version of The Crew 2 that simply sounds and looks objectively better.

As for the game quality and Ubisoft as a company in regards to the Crew francise. There have always been massive, massive problems that can not be excused. The game is one of the all time worst in terms of racing game microtransactions, and the quality of game overall suffers. I have not had a significant amount of time to explore every aspect of the The Crew 2, but the sound and Graphics (Sound specically) has had a sinificant upgrade.

One of the major issues that plauges The Crew 2, is pop-in at long distance, as well as draw distance of the game, which I believe hinders the gameplay expierence. I do not believe that this will be fixed, however, it is what you get when you have such a large world.

As for your arguement about the world being an empty nothingness with roads and scenery. That is exatcly what every driver wants in a racing game. The ablity to drive endlessly on new roads and areas. The Crew francise succeeds in this aspect by providing the ability for players to continously drive for hours upon end, in different areas of the map, and on roads they have never seen before.

I hope you take into account this post when you post your next video, as I believe that it is possible you got the wrong outcome on your video. However, it is all personal preference in the end.

That's great and all.. but guess what.. the video that you think is "More accurate"

it was posted in September. The footage used in that video isn't of the Crew 2 Beta that just came out. There's nothing wrong with the footage I used or the video I made. That's what the game looks like, plain and simple. I'll post another video when the final code is released at the end of the month. I'm interested to see if Ubisoft pulls it together and makes it look like they promised.

But don't accuse me of screwing up, when ubisoft has an actual track record of downgrading their games prior to release.

If you want the ultimate open world racing game, stop making up excuses for Ubisoft.

I understand that the footage was from September, but it mirrored what I expierenced during the closed beta far more then what was shown in the video. I would love to hop back into the game but the beta has completed. I understand you are feeling attacked as there is an overwhelming amount of comments on this thread and in the video that you are wrong. We will see how it goes when the Open Beta comes out and hopefully we can continue our discussion :steamhappy:

So.. what you're saying is. "Yeah.. this video doesn't support my argument... but my gut says it looked better"

And I don't feel attacked. It's open for discussion and people who ordered the game and who are excited for it will obviously react negatively because they feel attacked. I just accurately recorded footage of both games, at identical locations, with identical lighting/weather conditions, and reported the results.

Doesn't matter what the final game or even the open beta looks like. These are simply the results of the closed beta and how it stacks up when compared to the original game. Nothing will change these results.

And I'm sorry.. but that E3 footage you used in your argument, is not what the final game will look like, as much as I wish it did.

It's a beta, not a demo. In my experience, more often than not betas does not have the final graphics available. I remember Crysis 2 beta being a shock with only low settings and a lot of effects missing. The Crew 1 beta had lots of shading missing.. It's pretty dumb to seriously compare a beta with a final game.

Yes, I have been attempting to tell Nick that it is a configuration issue with his system and did post custom Nvidia settings that may have helped him achieve better settings. I have uploaded multiple screenshots that showcase the graphics of The Crew 2 and they are much better than The Crew 1 at 2560x1440 resolution and ultra settings.

It is a beta and if you do not meet the requirements, the game will not render every graphical feature to the highest quality if you do not have the specification for the game.

Even on your screenshots, we can see poor render distance and blurry image because of TAA. There is no problems with our hardware, that problem in the game itself.

There are a couple of issues but overall, the graphics look incredible if compared to other triple A open world games.

For example, Vampyr and Fallout 4.

I also want to mention that the cities and environments are huge, the game has to render hundreds of buildings, trees, pedestrians and cars.

The cities definitely look bigger than the first game and you can see from the screenshot of New York that there are more buildings.

I played the first game. I've played the beta of the second game. You are horribly wrong. Not only does it look better. It runs a million times better. I still to this day have microstutter on the first game, with a overkill pc. The crew 2 beta ran solid without a single hickup.

How am I wrong? I never said Crew 1 performed better than Crew 2.

And the comparisons here show with several examples that Crew 2 Beta simply doesn't look as good as the current state of Crew 1.

@Synth

I can't see your screenshots.. all I see is a shi* ton of Lens Flare. Maybe try taking less subjective screenshots next time.

Lol Fallout 4 as example, are you serious? One of the most worst graphics in the open world games.
Last open world race game that i played is FH3 and to be honest, Crew 2 don`t have any chance if we try to compare graphics and performance in both games. On my hardware RX 580+Ryzen 5 1600 i can use full ultra in FH3 and have 60-100 FPS with 8x MSAA antialiasing. In Crew 2 i can only have 60 fps with some stuttering and drops, because of same old engine + blurry image because of TAA. Yea i know, that i can disable TAA in config file, but it cause graphical glitch with screen reflection parameter.
