yes, it's not a narrative heavy game and has enough gameplay to carry itself.
There is a seraphic gate like dungeon in this game as well
Gameplay wise it's one of the most unique battle system in a jrpg. Complex and hard to master but a lot of fun when you do.
The gameplay is fairly unique and has a lot of mechanics you wont find (in that form) in other jRPGs, nevermind games in general. It's definately worth playing for the gameplay.
That aside: shounen anime has a lot of tropes you wont really find in most jRPGs, if only because jRPGs tend to be more 'mature' when it comes to characters/story. This game is no exception to that.
Fibricating a world is easy while Making the story reasonable difficult.
There are so much controdictions.
