cant launch the game: origin launcher problems (compatibility)

can you check that your game can launch without problems from the EA store app?
I dont get any direct errors in the ZXLog.txt file. System win10 (or 11), rtx 3080, amd 5800x. I also forced the display device to be number 0 and 4K resolution. Removing second display does not affect anything. could not find any error/crash reporting tools on your website. Tried to install the extra/custom redist packages from the TAB installation subfolder. Fro the user AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs, file IGOProxy_TheyAre_Billions, says some error, dont know if that matters.

reinstall everything. erase leftovers. remove game folder from ./Documents/My Games/, and some appdata path for origin related saves.

Start completely new game.

This is drm issue (and/or anticheat too). Happen cause of mismatch game version or profile save version (main save file created with first game launch). too much outdated saves folder or folder from differ versions can conflict with each other.

Not sure if there is drm related issues if you combine versions.
GOG (offline) have own critical bug. Didnt work without Galaxy service. Last mission crash at the end. Require GOG Galaxy and Galaxy version to start the mission.
Probably some combining will work.

Devs should provide steam keys for GOG/EA owners. Both games there are second class, and offline GOG version broken at the end. 8ndeed providing working version is on them.

At other side. Your initial issue is not game related at all. Windows block one of the EA services process. Now from most possible to 100% sure.

yep the gog offline version already seems to work after fresh install, all previous data removed, old save from the new version loaded. did not clear research points. tho the EA version does not still work. the EA version used to work, so there was some change with windows or EA app. it used to work with the old origin store app. I think it stopped working when EA changed to the EA app from the origin app.

well its on the publisher/EA to make the executable work with windows, not on the user. numatian should check if the game works with the new ea app, for themselves.

We have checked the game being launched on Origins new app in different pc configs and it's working smoothly.

We are still trying to figure out what is happening with your issue.

there are 3 common factors with the two computers it will not run on: EA app, amd 5000 series processor, rtx 3000 series gpu. all recent drivers. and it used to work, at least on the other computer, some about year ago or so, with the old origin app. of course win10/win11 64-bit, 16gb or more ram, fast ssd on both etc. of course the working gog version will not connect online, through any app injections. hardware router firewall should be open and other EA games work. its they are billions specific issue. probably something to do with ea app online check dll injections.

there might be an EA app cloud storage error preventing game start.
when I reinstalled over the gog version with the EA version, it asked if to use local or cloud saves, it says the cloud saves is from 1970, as if Y2K clock reset bug.

so... you did start EA app executable as admin and 5hen verify and start game directly from App Library (to keep admin run mode)?
There is no else AV apps except W.Defender? They can require adding /Games/ to exceptions (for EA App fir of!).

ZoneAlarm, PandaAV - better be uninstalled. They always ignore exceptions.

enough for the admin things. the EA version does not work, for me. there is no alert about a blocked app, in the defender. anyways EA version does not work, gog-offline works, if it happens to block the EA version from running. I dont have any other anti-virus on the system, as said before.

all the admin launch combinations have been tried, dont mention it. assume your admin tips dont work, at all. its something else than user error. its a game executable error.

steam (and gog) version work on both of the computers. its the EA app version that seems to be the only not working on the two computers, some EA related change to the executable and/or the EA app store interface, probably the executable checking for the store to be open and failing to find it, or even my ISP/router network issues, whatever the reason is. but it does not give out any errors, so I dont know.

also copying old save game files from the gog version to steam version seems to work. have not tested over multiple battles.

nope running the ea app as admin does not change a thing, also the _x86 executable does not seem to run at all, not even a task bar icon pops up.

my isp might be the issue, or hardware firewall, but should not be affecting anything, those are not specifically blocked by anything. EA app being in the middle could be the issue. note that it used to work before, but something changed around when the Origin app changed to EA app. eventually the game stopped working for both pc's. so only thing that changed was the app, maybe driver versions, not the computer(s).

as an update, up to now no change in the working condition. changed even the router to a more working one. still same startup behaviour in the EA store version, assume gog and steam versions still work as normal.
