though if you still have 25 whole days to prepare odds are its for a reason so spam defences and PREPARE THYSELF
In general the campaign is not fine-tuned at all, so some maps have loads of days that you dont "need" and some have more tight schedule. The campaign was carelessly put together and not is polished so these annoyances pop up all the time in the campaign.
They playtested the survival better, so that game mode works very well. Campaign is a mess.
And the same with population. Crank it too high, and you may not be able to expand fast enough in early game, but having it lower makes for good early game experience but lets you clear the map "too soon", resulting in boredom at the end.
I remember having games where i went to do something else after day 80 (100 days setup), because i knew my defensive setup would hold off the final horde.
