its ultimately the developers choice whether or not a game even goes on sale to begin with
i cant speak for numantian of course but i do know that wube stance on sales is pretty clear "while a sale can make more money in the short term in the long run it can wind up reducing overall profit thats why we never do sales"
idk if thats the reason why numantian never does big sales but i can see a few reasons as to why they wont do it
and personally the way i see is if you REALLY want to play that game you will buy it anyway chances are if you are not gonna buy till at least 50% discount then odds are the games not for you and your not gonna enjoy it that much anyway so dont bother
you said it yourself TAB is a niche game in a niche sub-genre of games and i have a feeling no amount of sales even something as high as 90% is ever gonna make it a "big popular game" the only way i can see such a thing happening is if TAB 2 was announced and then suddenly like 65% sale + a multiplayer announcement or something to build hype and even then...
theres countless tools online as well for helping to get started
If the campaign had been decent I would have bought it on release from EA but I remember all the grandiose promises and I'm still pissed at them for what they served as a finished product.
Eventually, it will end up in a bundle somewhere. If not then well, can't get them all.
I guess the developers are aware of profit margins, profits during sale and sales volume and are able to pick and choose what they offer and when. (How all businesses operate; we have analysts, done it myself and it price structure is chosen on a number of factors).
Got 430 hours out of TAB so far and I can see me putting in 5 or so hours a week on some of the challenging and well structured workshop maps for a good few more years. Probably worth more than a cheap night at the pub.
Well I've waited this long, I can wait longer. I wanted it for travelling on my surface pro since its only good for light gaming besides work. Off topic but this game looks like it would be great on ipad or phone.
