for 3 go in to options and "enable on-screen alerts" by default you will not receive a warning if a unit/building is being attacked on your camera even if its in the corner or something enabling on screen alerts solves this
4- thats intended as the devs do not want "re-rolling" maps to be easy
5- outside of the RARE case of caustic lands map generation is "tough but fair" every map has a guaranteed minimum set of resources near you and every map is winnable if your good enough
sure some maps are gonna be a cake walk compared to others but thats RNG in a nutshell and keeps the game interesting
6- yeah a bit annoying but some of these quirks can be worked around quite consistently especially with good micro
7- again muscle memory and getting used to it play a role i personally only have issues the foundry of all things but then again thats me
all things considered i think building placement is quite fair and consistent and keeps in line with "space is as valuable as gold" that the game tries so hard to emulate
- good luck
6 never happned. If they have free space on them path - they go. If you assign units to one group - they will chase infected as one group.
5 yes you right. Espoeciafjly for first map thta should be easy. Campaign maps are way more balanced. Survival ones not have enough space at start, not enough woods (on forest map!) and only +2 stone and +1-2 iton near start (or almost on whole map)(also resurces generates at unreachable for constructing areas)
7 very fruuu effect. Game terrible at placing walls and houses. And it looks like house entrance not require free space (just one square), and sometimes game allow 4 walls on diayonale and not allow 3 walls.
There is a lot of improvments and fixes required for game.
If you play on some harer diff. make sure to build... Im not sure. Just Shock Executor and Whisps. 2-3 lines walls. Maybe free space between walls lines - but that not affecr harpies in current version (they jump as they should if you make free space and still jump even if you d 3 walls and tents) and make easier to others infected.
What do you mean turned on manually? I get notifications when a unit is being attacked, it is turned on... but it does not happen every time a unit is attacked. it is possible for a unit to get attacked and killed 1 on 1, which takes multiple attacks from a zombie... and never get a single notification. I hear the dying sound of the unit.
Same with buildings... I will hear "our defenses are being attacked" but not every time. Sometimes I've seen zombies drop multiple walls and I never got a single notification... other times the second a zombie hits something I get a notification. The issue is consistency not a switch in settings. Unless the switch is "only notify player 20% of the time"
You have an option in the game options to set all the attacks to be warned even when they are not in the screen you are currently playing.

The issue I have described is when I'm building stuff on one side of the map, and my base is getting attacked on the ENTIRE OTHER SIDE of the map... and it can often not give any warning at all.
Or, another easy to test example, early game, if you send out your starting 5 units in all directions... then start building....
It's random if you get a notification when one of them gets attacked off screen. I just (before writing this) tested.. had a unit run north, I was looking in the south, unit started fighting zombies, eventually a few got close and started attacking the unit... I didn't get a notification until the unit was dead. I then tested it with a different unit and I got a notification the second the unit was attacked.
I undertand that the game, when you are being attacked from five or six different points, can avoid one of the warning but how you describe it, it's like if the warning system doesn't work at all. And this is not happening.
That "single check box" is this https://imgur.com/a/tGZOxjL
and its funtion has been described in my previous post.
