Yes, it really seems that this game is very unique in some ways, that could be filled with a few more games, in some kind of sub genre. It's not being easy to find a new game that fills her TAB appetite ^^
Check out State of Decay 2 :) its a 1st person zombie survival game with base building elements :) its awesome :)
Also try Riftbreaker. Full game isn't out but the demo or the first chapter is already out.
If you really want the zombie apoc setting, Cepheus Protocol is also a close fit.

But that mod very differ from version to version. In only some of them there is hl2 zombies or aliens-ant-lion hordes survival (endless as i remember, just for scores).
Im not sure right now how it be in current Lambda Wars.

Lambda Wars is not close to TAB. Still both HL2 Wars mod and Lambda Wars (steam Edition name) are good RTS to try.
