Good Caustic land map at max population

What are the requisite for a good map in caustic land at max population?
three time i had a very large village of doom near comanc center, another time i had only 2 route of expansions, which can be good but i had problem with food, another time i had literally 0 steel near base.
Have you got other suggestions?

That map always has exactly one village of doom and it is huge, consisting of around 40 buildings.

Getting the right mix of resources near your base on caustic lands is pretty difficult. I've ranted about it a bit myself. I think having multiple opportunities for expansion might be the best scenario. The games where I've had the most difficulty are the ones where I'm hemmed in by rock/forest and can't get to resources on the other side.

If i can get a decent first housing area and dont need to defend my base from too many angles i am happy with it. Even if you are missing iron you can get around it by improving your gold income and than buying steel from market. For the first group of snipers.
Ironically my highest score game was when i was in a big pocket with only 2 ways to expand and one of them being blocked by doom villige. That saved me a lot of resources on balistas and i could focus on army production. After clearing the doom town around day 40 i had so much resources i could built anything i wanted.
