Usually, wandering infected are slow and a ranger will easily dispatch one to guard the base, provided you haven't expanded far yet. Once you expand farther, you need sturdier defenses to hold off mobs of infected [Walls, Gates and Towers with Rangers].
Also, NEVER expand your buildings into space that you cannot defend. I've lost several times because I was too hasty in putting up Tesla Towers while the area wasn't cleared properly. Just like Dark Souls, this game rewards careful, thoughtful and patient play [the Pause button isn't there for nothing]. A "Zerg Rush" approach will not work in this game.
Map the show healthbars function to a key on your numpad, like the zero key.
Then press and hold the zero key
Press and release Numlock
Release the zero key
Now your health bars will stay on.
It's a bit of a shame that we need a workaround for this. I am completely down with the "one zombie will ruin your base" mechanic, it's just that it can be so difficult to spot that one zombie.
On that note, it's not just spotting zombies. Sometimes, you need to keep track of how your walls are doing, in case you need to retreat. Or see if the unit you're kiting with is near death. And so on. In all these cases, it's just much more convenient to have the healthbars permanently on.
1. go to online retailer of your choice website
2. order a real keyboard
3. open window
4. throw out old keyboard
You have to do it manually with this trick below.
Always Show Healthbars ON option (Using Numlock):
- In the Options, change Controls to "Custom".
- Rebind the “Show healthbars” button to a numpad number for example Numpad 9.
- While in game (playing a map), Press and Hold Numpad 9 then press Numlock.
- Release Numpad 9.
If you alt-tab you need to redo this for it to come back.+You can also go Flat mode by pressing F4 by default to better see the environment.
And again. That require normal keyboard. Most notebooks/mobilePC/tablet cover-boards have stupid layot. With Fn keys supposed to work by Fn are main ones.
Thanks
