They Are Billions

They Are Billions

Xem thông số:
Virus alert by Webroot on update, restore file, now can't play
Webroot antivirus said theyarebillions.exe contains pua.Downloadmanager.Gen

I told my anti-virus to restore the file (screw security, I have zombies to kill), and now it starts, can load my save, but the game automatically shuts down after a minute or so without any warning or message.

I tried to restore my game via steam but it keeps crashing now.

I can be patient for a fix but im worried about losing my saved game. Any idea where the saved games are so that I can restore it later?

I'd venture to say that your saves are safe - especially if you are using cloud saves.

Just wait for a patch, something they did is giving a false positive. Mine is reading it as a "Download Manager" whatever that might be

I refunded due to this, as i found it odd and it has never happened with any other steam game i have.

Verify steam cache, if that doesn't fix it do a clean install.

Sad to see you go but I can understand.

Just keep in mind that if this was a huge problem everybody had then there would be a huge outcry on this forum. I believe your problem is not widespread at all and thus might be on your side (computer).

Webroot is a bad antivr to use. It has a history of mislabelling programs and requiring them to be white-listed. e.g.

If you've not pirated the game, Steam takes ~30% cut to actively prevent this kind of thing happening.

Hi! All files are always scanned by Valve, so it is not possible that the game contains a virus when Steam install it. Of course it can be infected later as any other application in an infected computer.

Surely the pirated version of They Are Billions is used to spread virus, trojans and worms, so that can be the reason that the game is blacklisted with some antivirus.

My game worked fine before whatever update was just dropped, now crashing to desktop and as others have said webroot picked it up as virus. I restored the file from webroot but still crashing to desktop. Anyone know what was changed today?

Been in IT for 20 years. Never trusted webroot. If your running linux, there are better options. If you're using windows, sccm/winDefender isn't a bad option and it's free. If you're on mac... lololololo sorry... HAHAHAHAHAH.... YEah, on mac you're fine. lol Dissable Webroot when you play. Sounds like WEBroot maybe getting a false positive. I believe most Steam games send packet info before and after launch of the game, client checks-stats-DMC etc. This could be what webroot is seeing.

I was able to play again by running steam as an administrator.

Yeah, seems like this game holds promise. Pirating things always brings something bad and that is a given. Maybe that is why Webroot picked it as a false postive but never happens with any of tons of other games i have through steam. Other games especially any of the elder scroll games have been pirated way more, so I find it odd that this is the only game happened to. As the game was fine yestarday and today it wasnt after an update.

So another solution is to do a clean reinstallation after setting webroot to ignore the file. No idea why file verification isnt enough. Im guessing its something they added to fight off piracy since that was the dev's first response.
