Titans, a group of them can clear a map but while they are tough they aren't an arty unit like thanatos.
titans are better for offense map clearing but by the time you get them you can jsut have the map clear via snipers.
So generally thanatos is your better unit to rush out and use. While placing a inn between two housing bays at cottage level that you can have as early as 22-25 you will see titans from that inn at that point. Allowing you to get a few early while clearing to tank for your snipers this is the best way I found to get titans.
Comes down to both units have there place its not one more effective than the other its what job are you trying to fill. Witch for those two units norm mean defense as map should be mostly clear by time you get titans but if "turtleing" to rush out titans (as early as 25-30 per deadlys score run build) using them to clear the map is a "good" build esp for score runs than you swap to thanatos later to pair with titans for the final wave.
I like the Titan because I like speedy units.
However, because I can win without an oil unit, I use a different strategy.
They have nice damage output, are tanky and have a decent aoe attack.
You can use them to clear the map fast and their mobility allows them to reinforce your defenses against horde waves and in the final wave they act as a mobile Executor.
Thanatos are a final wave type of unit and are only used for the final wave and offer nothing for the rest of the game, due to their extremely slow speed.
by the time you can get a couple titans out you've already got most the map cleared using snipers (or you should).. and those snipers picked up resources from VOD's that helped you unlock the engineering center and pay for the titans.. so using titans to clear the map doesn't any sense to me. it's like a chicken and egg thing
They are the buff did make there damage worth but but there flaw of costing a lot to build and unlock is still there. So you unlock them vary late as you said. There are builds that rush titans and are able to get early before clearing the map making them worth thou.
Not getting vet dosebt help also
Yes they would be to good vet but when using to clear getting vet snipers is a nice bonus vs Titans
