They are Billions OR Frostpunk??
I am trying deciding which one I want to try. I couldn't pick one last time, (during the Thanksgiving Day sale.)

Any thoughts on which one I should get, is one better than the other?

Just looking at them they seem to be generally in the same sort of style so picking one to try is proving hard.

P.s. I know I've seen Frostpunk go on sale before has They Are Billions gone on sale ever?

Thoughts Please.

Thanks in Advance!

aguswings: Seems like they are very similar to me, which is why I'm requesting people's thoughts on the topic.

Thanks for your reply.

both games are COMPLETELY different "even in art style" as someone who owns both i reccomend tab as it has a LOT more play value and is a ton of fun but yeah comparing tab to frostpunk is not a good way to get a point across both games are for 2 completely different types of gamers

Frostpunk is a serious, story-driven game with rather slow gameplay. It's gorgeous with stylish art galore but didnt quite fit me, I felt too controlled by the game.

TAB is very different. It feels more like age of empire or something in that you place lots of buildings and walls (frostpunk is more dialog-based) and move around troops alot. It's more hectic at times and based on defending against waves of attackers and optimizing building placement. I truely love TAB but it's value comes from challange and you need to learn by your mistakes.

They are NOT similar games (maybe the theme is somewhat similar but the gameplay is VERY different). I suggest looking at a lets play video of both and make your mind up.

andrewbh2003: I don't know both seemed to me to be a RTS/Story Hybrid base building game where you defend against the undead/elements type of game, so yes the theme seemed to make them sound a lot alike at least to me, thus sort of in the same style.

Caedo: Glad to klnow that both are very good, since most of the responses so far sound like everyone is leaning towards They Are Billions.

herrerik: So is Frostpunk too story driven/based then not enough player free will? I miss demos youtube let's play videos just don't cut it when it comes to telling me if a game is fun or not, I've had lots of hits and flops that way.

So what is the replay value of both games, once you finish them is either worth replaying? I've never seen They Are Billions go on sale does anyone know it it has? (I know Frostpunk is/has.)

Thoughts Anyone?

Thanks in advance!

frostpunk has very little replay value like you "can" go for different "Playstiles" but overall its pretty much the same "great game though" tab well it depends on who you ask i personally have 200+ hours and still going strong i play at least once per week but i have seen people "and if you check the negative reviews" saying "games repetitive same thing over and over" so honestly the only way your gonna get that answer is by playing yourself cause there are people who "depending on who you ask" will tell you the game has anywhere between 1000 to 10 hours worth of content

Hello, just want it to add. That this game is barely developed and the replay value is up to you.

I recommend frostpunk all the way over---

I was checking back to get this game and since I refunded the only thing "new" is the giants (enemy units) and the map editor

Campaign was delayed, developers are full of themselfs and like I said earlier it barely gets updated, they dont listen to the community and that for what I can see haven't changed...Frostpunk free updates outpaced this game long ago

replay value: If you love "rng" on your maps and having to reload 100 time new game until you have something something worth playing then prepare to enjoy 200h or more.

updates arrive on a nearly weekly bases with bug fixes that are community driven

campaign was delayed cause community cried for custom maps replace the map editor for campaign and thats when it would have released also "reloading maps" is not a thing i play every map i get and 90% of the time i win no matter how rough the start is

Tab has like one similarity to frostpunk, it’s an rts. Yet people keep comparing the two. I don’t get it.

lol more than one similarity, yes they are both RTS games but they are also based in the Steam punk theme, they are both base building games as well as survival games. They both are at the higher end for skill level of gamers, Age of empires style RTS are easy to learn, FP & TAB are not, they require effort, time and planning.
If both games were at full release/retail i would lean towards TAB because i love the premise, survive and defend against zombie hordes. But Frostpunk is another fantastic base building game, just no enemies to fight, just weather to survive.

I have a friend who checked out both Frostpunk and They Are Billions (TAB). He ended up buying Frostpunk. He enjoyed it. He then bought TAB and he ended up enjoying it more and putting far more hours into it.
JustGoFly Dec 22, 2018 @ 10:14am
Damn you, I had to buy Frost Punk. Good game, but very linear and repetitive. Building is very restrictive. You could play the same map on Billions 100 times and it would be different every time. Every time you play Frost Punk, is the same. Billions doesn't have a story line. Zombies want to kill your command center and they get aggressively more difficult, and they have very sensitive ears. Noise seems to really piss them off. Efficient building is not required to win. Billions is better, both are addictive. Don't buy it the day before you have to drive 6 hours. I was up until 4:30 playing. But with Billions, I was up until 6:30. Lol

I wanna try Frost Punk.

I'd go Frost Punk until they are done with the Early Access on TAB.
