Game save invalid
Hi, I've had a few problems with the game crashing in the past but i've always been able to get back to my game. However this time the game crashed sometime after I'd exited to the main menu. It crashed the PC. I haven't been able to reload the save game, I just get 'Game save invalid'. As I haven't modified anything, the other reason it gives is that the game has been updated (or it just somehow got corrupted when the game crashed). Is there likely to be any way to get it working again as it constitutes many hours of play and I was doing rather well...?

The game appeared to save fine as far as I am aware, as I selected the exit/save option. I left it on the main menu to have some lunch. I looked over and the PC had crashed (the screen looked like the TV when it hasn't been tuned in to a channel). I reloaded everything and got the above message when I tried to play again.

Hi Tim, did you manage to find a solutions to this?

The same problem happened to me when I loaded my cloud saved file from another computer elsewhere, Saved & Exit after playing.

When I returned home to carry on, I was left with this same message.

Will appreciated if you found something to this and share what you have found.

Thanks.

I love how you necro'd a post that isn't even the same issue, only the same result.

Time to necro this post with an actual solution (or at least one that worked for me).
My save files became 'invalid' after i task manager killed They Are Billions. There was a nasty surprise for me in 'the forbidden forest' while my troops were on the other side of the map and I didn't feel like replaying it at the time. :fmad:

Anyhow...
1. Go to your save files in "Documents\My Games\They Are Billions\Saves".
2. Within the save files copy the files of your campaign ending with _Backup (it should be 2)
3. Replace <campaign name>.zxsav and <campaign_name>.zxcheck with them. Make sure the original _Backup files are still in place, so all of those files should be identical.
4. Go in offline mode in steam so it won't re-download your old saves and start the game

:fscared: !!! DO NOT replace the files with the ~ symbol in it. Just leave it as it is !!! :fscared:

:fhappy: In my case i was kicked back to world map without finishing the mission, however i could restart 'the forbidden forest' from start on. The world map somehow revealed the path to the next mission, but at least i didn't have to restart the entire campaign.

SunnySolaire you are a life saver! I thought it was strange that the game didn't have backups. Why doesn't the game pull on these backups? Instead 99% of people will just give up.

I'm glad I could help Omega. This was the first discussion that came up in google search, so i decided to post here. I'm happy that you confirm that it was of use to others. :praisesun:

I have to redo the mission that crashed my game and caused me to have to look into how to fix my save, but that's better than losing all of my progress in that campaign. Thank you for this.
