Manually get the game to save, open your program crasher of choice and crash the game.
Something like Cheat Engine works, search for some random memory values, get about 50000 of them, select them and lock them or set them all to 0. Game crashes (most of the time).
Even as a developer I have no clue how one could patch that.
HOWEVER that being said- I was first in camp 'the game needs saves' now i'm in 'the game needs practice mode(which is not ironman)', which has saves to let you have fun with experimenting.
Trying something new is not a mistake- so don't listen to those guys.
The game saves automatically when:
- you quit
- after playing for a while
- you exit the game through ctrl+alt+del
So if you want to try something:
1. Exit the game (it saves)
2. Backup the savefolder.
3. Try your silliness.
to restore the previously saved folder
1. Be in meny or outside the game
2. delete the current savefolder and rename your backed-up folder so it has the normal savefolder name.
3. Load the game from the meny ("continue")
