The Score System
I'm curios how exactly the game calculates final score in this game? I just did the community challenge. By end game, I had 8.5k Colonists, lost 9 soldiers and had less than 50 colonists lost. This netted me a pretty good 23.5k points and rank 43. The thing is, the top few players were able to achieve 30k. What exactly did they do differently that netted them a 7,000, approximately 30% more points? The first time I cleared a 100% game I had only 2k colonists, lost close to 50 men and over 200 colonists, yet that still netted me 20,000 points. Is there a vital criterion I'm mising here?

"This is how the score is calculated when you win (losing is calculated slightly differently).

20k starting score, +0.5 per colonist, +1 per 100 zombies killed, -10 per dead colonist(maxes at 5k), -10 per dead soldier (maxes at 5k). Multiply by score factor." Reddit, They Are Billions, posted by blcd.

More colonists. You can make a colony with up to 12k to 15k colonists on map 3 depending on the exact layout.

I noticed at the cut off point between players who won and who did not (around rank 1,100) there is a player tht has 5000 points but died on day 11. Glitch? Or doe this hint at something else?

Tank you very much. Looks like this formula is correct.

My challenge result:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1284050134

20000 (base) + 4196(8392 pop) + 279.29(killed zombies) - 20(2 soldiers) - 60(6 colonists) = 24395.

This means 30k+ peoples have 20k population. 20k population is impossible on this map.

Also this means challenge "rise pop on map with limited food sources" sux. +20% advanced farms major will always win.

Just to clarify, is the score calculated as your colony size at the end of the game or the highest achieved?

Highest achieved, which is considered by many to encourage degenerate gameplay during the final wave. I'm hoping that they change it to reflect surviving population at the end of the game.

You can get thousands more points for making the unique buildings too.

Not at the time of the post the op as asking for the score system on jan of 2018 this is BEFORE wonders existed.

This is the prob with using necromancy. You rarely get a topic that is relevant to the current game.
