Is there a mass delete unit button?
On some campaign maps where you defend against waves, I win but at the end of the battle I have like -120 in workers because they infected a lot of my camps. I want to be delete all my soldiers at that point (since the objective to kill infected/survive waves are checked off) so I can start rebuilding, but I see no other way to do this than group up my army next a soldiers tent then manually click on every soldier one by one and press delete. Is there a better way to do this?

Double click to select all within a proximity of the clicked unit.

No, that is not the answer to the question I asked. I know how to select multiple units of the same type, I asked for "mass delete" button.

When you select a group of units, the "dismiss unit" button disappears entirely. It ONLY appears when you select a single unit.

You cannot do it because the devs don't want to deal with the crying from people who did it by accident.

Ok thought so, I'll just have to live with the flawed system since I doubt they will change it anytime soon, but I hope someone on the dev team does take note at how clunky this common situation is. Yes it is common, I've done it on a few missions now where I had a huge surviving army I wanted to delete to move on the population building phase.

Ok wait a second...you CAN mass demolish buildings (they give a pop up screen asking you if you are sure) but you can't mass delete units? This is just inconsistency now. I ask you either make it so you can mass delete units, or you can't mass demolish buildings.

Mass deleting walls and is a common thing to be done. Temporary defenses are often built to deal with a wave which are then deleted once the fight ends.

Needing to mass delete units indicates that you've done something terribly wrong and the game should not make it an easy thing to do. You should fix your error in play instead.

I've already had it happen in 3 missions. I could not defend one side and so my colony got infected but my army overcame it. Had no workers to repair with so I had to delete army to get workers to repair buildings.

Yes I imagine if I had perfect experience and knowledge I could perfectly defend all the attack points without losing anything, but that doesn't mean the game should expect that level of play.

You don't need workers to repair housing. Just hit the repair button. You are misunderstanding the situation.

In addition to negative workers, my army is throwing me into negative gold. Therefore I cannot repair anything at all. No wood income, no gold income, no workers, what exactly can I repair?

I can't repair anything until I delete a lot of my army.

I am not misunderstanding the situation. You are.

What they could do is have the delete button stay but every press just retires 1 unit (starting with the unit with least XP/Veterancy). That would be a QoL change i'm 100% behind.

I want to add that this situation is becoming more common for me - every time I encounter a new mission with omnidirectional swarms, there's no way I know where they're coming from and I don't want to spread my resources thin trying to defend every angle so now my strategy in these kinds of maps is just to create billions of snipers then huddle everyone by the command center then rebuild after the wave comes. I'm sure looking forward to deleting this 600 sniper army at the oasis after waiting 72 days for the swarm to come. Great game design.

You can force attack to kill friendly targets. I spent a hot minute murdering my surplus rangers to free workers and etc.

True but that's about as fast as clicking a unit and then delete.

What you are describing is not bad game design it is terrible decisions on your part. Stop refusing to accept that you are the problem.

Go watch someone on twitch, or a youtube video to see what they are doing right compared to what you are doing wrong.

There is no reason at all to put yourself in that position. You seem to have decided that what you are doing is the only option. That single mindedness is preventing you from seeing the many other options open to you. Since you can't figure it out on your own, watch someone else show you how it is done.

And you don't even have to tell anyone that you learned by watching someone else. Nobody will know!

Why is it a terrible decision on my part? Can you explain what you mean? You just throw a bunch of words with nothing to back it up - no logic, no explanation of what I'm doing wrong.

At the very least, you have to admit the facts that it is factually inconsistent to be able to mass delete buildings but not be able to mass delete units. Both require upkeep so there is an excellent reason to get rid of both of them in great quantities. This isn't even the best reason I can give but it's one you HAVE to factually agree on.

I'm wondering what tune you'll sing if/when they fix this issue. Will you say they caved in to pressure of a whiner? Or will you be a man and say wait a minute, he was right I'm sorry I gave him such a hard time for no reason than to stroke my own ego?
