Why do I have to play "finding Waldo" to get research points?
It's annoying to complete a hero mission in the campaign an then to pixel-scan the whole level to know where to get the empire/research points. An option in ALL difficulty levels to highlight these spots should be added. Otherwise that's just an unfun waste of time for the player.

Waldo looks different from everyone around him.

This is like Where's Waldo but Waldo looks the same as everyone else and you need to mouse over every person to check if it's him.

The flash they added is very infrequent even on lower difficulties, so it doesn't help much.

Just a really awful design decision all around, I'm baffled that it made it into the game. I guess they literally had nobody playtest the hero missions?

I've cleared a level and then spend all my time to try and find those collectables but even then I can't find them. Sometimes they look like a book on a table, with other books on tables around it that aren't collectables. Or crates/barrels that all look the same.

The most annoying thing is that I don't even know what I'm supposed to look for and I'm just hovering over evertyhing with my mouse cursor. And even then sometimes it turns out that something I've hovered over a dozen times turns out to be a collectable when you position your cursor just on the right pixel.

In other games it's at least an object different from all the other objects, or it has a glow, or it is obvious that what you're looking at is a valuable collectable.

Well. Some stuff does look different... Like Mona Liza or chests or watch... And they are fun to find. But other items... I agree with you.

They should adopt the same mechanic that pillars of eternity and DOS2 have. When you hold down Alt key it highlights all the loot. The challenge is then to actually get there with all the zombies around and it will exclude the 5 minutes you spend scanning the screen with your mouse (like that is meant to be enjoyable?)

I dont have the 100% completionist OCD syndrom, so for now the missions are pretty fun (i like setting up traps and useing the enviroment to my advantage). I still get 90% of all point because most are pretty obvious. Dont really do any backtracking, because you dont really need all the points.

I completely agree to op. First Hero Mission took 8 Minutes to clear and another 10 mins to find the last piece to pick up.
the second mission took 15 minutes to complete and i stopped searching for the last piece after another 15 minutes.

Definitely needs a highlighting function like in BG2 or NWN.

It is very unfun
Daheadsmiter Jun 22, 2019 @ 5:07pm
it took me 20mins to find a bottle that gave me 10pts

I just threw a grenade at all the collectables and blew them up!

Kinda regretting that now with all the Tech and Empire points I'm missing :(

Was sort of tongue in cheek, but that's the only explanation i can think of for not finding every bit of stuffs :)

EDIT: Also, placing barrels then shooting them.

No you can trust me, it's just that you mix a single pixel you were suppose to click on your screen while searching around for that last stupid piece of bracelet that will give you 10 empire points or some sh1t like that.

They should be highlighted when you show health bars. Simple as that.

I'm also surprised how much backlash the campaign gets. However, if the mission design is the same throughout then there is not much point playing it, right?

i thought stuff was supposed to flash now, it isn't for me. is there a guide anywhere yet to where all of the stuff is ?
