What research to take and what to pass up?
The campaign tech tree is huge and since I know you can't unlock everything, what would you recommend a new player take?

Hunting and fishing you can skip. Even if you don't have farms yet they just are not worth it. And once you have farms you will never build more then 4-5 of them per game.

if you want any horde mission to be trivial go straight into :
- experts workshop
- advanced construction
- advanced machinery
- mechanical engineering

next i went into these to speed up map clearing with soldiers and population maxing
- assault rifle
- cereal farming
- chemistry

next , these to ease up clearing large final waves
- concrete
- logistics
- mechanized storage (need this to build warehouse that increases gold capacity, executor turret tech cost 3k to research)
- radar
- combat artillery

next i went into these to boost soldiers even more
- high technology
- advanced ammunition


i'm at 42% nightmare and got 820 points to spend , not sure on what :o
* i guess i might go next
- commerce
- currency
- optics
- advanced lenses
- telescopic sight

some say that 'iron transportation' is nice to have as iron tends to be blocked even more on later maps

Soldiers, lucifers, warehouses, concrete walls, shocking towers then upgrades. As much as I like snipers it’s more efficient to tech into supping up soldiers as they will be the mainstay of your forced
