Reduces the amount of Victory Points the mission is worth, which reduces your overall campaign score.
AKA, defeat count means sweet FA and the Victory Points don't matter.

All problems related to it exist only in the player's head.
Why do you think defeat count should exist ? why do you need it there ? I am pretty sure people wont care if they are going to remove defeat count
I wouldn't interact with EvilGenius, he's been provoking attacks for a bit now.
The defeat count will not help you to record your attempts because it is not bound to difficulty. A person who lost 10 times in nightmare just one shot easy mode. This does not mean that he really need 11 attempts to beat the mission if he switched to easy mode earlier.
I have been discouraged out of this campaign twice now. I DON'T want a system that keeps up with my failures and !@#$s on what I do good. And I am a LONG time RTS player and never in my life did I go through an RTS campaign that was going out of it's way to remind me of my mistakes along the way. I would NEVER complete achievements in SC2 nor would I reach Diamond league if I wasn't good dealing with my mistakes. But this isn't "dealing" with them, that's the developers trying to rub them in my face and THAT is just being !@#$ty. For that only I'd vote down the entire game... Only reason I don't is that the rest of the game is good and they are an indie company.
Life can but !@#$ty enough and remind us of our failures. Some of us have awesome parents for that. To a person that uses games to escape such judgmental internal or external criticism, this is a punch in the face. Developers, if you are reading, why do you want to punch your costumers faces?
