No manual save-load system?
Am I missing something or is there really no manual saving in this game?

It must of been to complex for them to add this basic function to the game .

The game saves after a certain amount of days. You can exploit this, if you tab out the game, go to Documents/My Games/They are Billions and copy the Save Folder. If you fail a mission cause a single zombie spawned randomly at the end of the map and you didnt had a ranger there... you can either ALT+F4 to close the game or use your backup save to load the last autosave.

I really wish they added manual saves. It would be less frustrating, and not artifically lengthen the campaign.

EDIT: If you close the game normally you can force a save manually and then backup this.

There's no manual saving for a reason: this is a HARDCORE game.

If by "hardcore" you mean unnecessarily frustrating because it lacks features that other games in the genre have, then sure. :)

This is not complex to do, it's a game feature.

I really don't understand how you don't understand that the devs were going for an ironman like game experience.

If you think this is a game feature, it really paints the picture why there are so many problems after you were one of their private play testers.

It's not a feature people want on easier difficulties.

Devs won't make a savesystem, simply because a savesystem takes away the excitement. If losing 3 hours of progress after a severe mistake gets your juices cooking, then you have to savescum on your own.

Simply save&exit, navigate to "..\Documents\My Games\They Are Billions\Saves" then just copy paste the saves (.zxsav /.zxcheck) you need into another folder. This process take a few seconds and even PC novices can do it. You just have to do it yourself, that's all. To load the backup, copy paste them back into the save folder and delete the _backup files, since the game always loads them first and you might think it's not working. Even XCOM 2 ironman can be savescummed the same way, if you are feeling extra cheap.

You know how games have ironman mode as well as normal mode, well this game only has ironman mode and the devs have said they won't change it, my advice is refund unless you like ironman mode.
This save system has been in game from the early beggining. It has been explained a number of times why it works as it does and there will be no changing it on the devs part because the system is part of their vision of how the game should be played.

I like the save system, forces you to work with what happens.

I had a bad colony mission go south when some zombie snuck in and started to overrun my colony. Against all odds I barely managed to keep my command centre alive, despite the literal entire rest of my colony of 200 people being overrun. I clawed back and reconquerd my colony and won the mission.

Had it not been for this psudo ironman mode, I'd have quit the mission when I was overrun and try again.

Yep pretty bad feature. I though they said there would be saving in the campaign but I must either misunderstood it, or it was a lie. Oh well changed my review from positive to negative and move on. At least survival was well worth it.
