Help with where to spend research points
So.. after getting somewhat in the middle of the campaign, i can't get any further, it's just too hard and i feel like i wasted so much points on useless things:

Mercenaries I and II, hight tower, optics to sniper, fisherman and hunter cottage buff, military training.. i would like to know where to spend early points, didn't find any useful guide about it on the internet.

Farm, shock tower, soldier, iron transportation, ballista, try in that order it may not be 100% optimal but it's pretty close.

Try to avoid everything you picked so far, it's not high priority (skip wood defense upgrades for the stone ones they're way better)

There are many threads on it but the general answer.

Rush farm
Than soilder
After either wasp or luci to deal with swarms. Luci is better for swarms but worse for normal missions so pref wasp

Rush shock tower and plus 1 range
Train to iron train

Than you can branch out to anything from there

Good tech to aim for inc in no real order

Eff mills
Insulation
Shock range 2
Wasp train
Soilder upgrades
Titans titan damage
Food and power wonder
Vet wonder
Gold from kills if on challenge or higher diff
Market
Warehouse
Stone walls and stone wall hp

Those are the only real tech that stand out to me that I can think of off the top of my head anything else is less optimal thou they can works.

Eg snipers can be good but are worse than soilders in campaign at basicly all points. You can use points to get them to support snipers but even apoc can be done without so the points are better elsewhere unless you want them. You will have spare points at the end after getting the listed tech to get them if you want.

I personally tend to rush farms, soldiers, shock towers then train transport tech up to iron, and generally everything that wsc and amordron already said. I'm torn currently on wasps, since I don't use them all that much except for some early swarms and defence strenghtening, but upgraded soldiers are very close in efficiency. Lucifier tech on the other hand is a step towards titans/thanatos, the first one being very useful generally.

Recently Azn made a pretty good post on reddit with his view on the tech and what's important there. That may be helpful.

depends on the difficulty. im assuming you are playing apocalypse 800%, in which case you need to be extremely careful where to spend your pts.

i recommend for the early campaign
-rush to wood workshop and farms first
-soldiers
-stone workshop and shock towers by the time your reach coast of bones and especially for storm cape (skip ballista for now)
-concrete (stone walls) for storm cape

^thats the early campaign priorities, if you have spare RP to spend dump it into "logistics" and "gold transportation"

skip things like mercenaries 1and 2, wood towers and wood spikes, military training is pretty bad. the fishing "bearings and pulleys" and "hunting weapons" techs are decent and "efficient turbines" is excellent. after that focus on the train upgrades up to iron (no need to go further until late campaign), get reinforced projectiles and mechanized weapons (ballista). you dont have to go mechanized storage (warehouse) too fast and get market and the bank when you can.

about mid campaign get lucifers via mechanical engineering for attack missions, corpse recycling and black market for more gold. soldier upgrades (armor + attack), and wasps.

for snipers, hold off until at least noxious swamp, about mid campaign. if 360RP to get snipers and the prereq techs on the branch and bad, so wait until mid campaign as those mission give 300-500 RP each.

Most people don't use Mercenaries, but Mercenaries I at least doesn't feel like a waste of points to me. Playing on Apoc where there are way too many zombies, so boosting your initial clearing power by 25% felt like a big help.

Mercenaries II for sniper though wasn't worth it. The number of zombies is too high for sniper to kill fast enough w/o vet unless you micro the attacks to shoot faster which increases your noise levels even more. On some levels you can get away with it, but usually it was too risky due to the larger number of runners he can pull. So he just sits around babysitting the housing area until he can tag along w/ soldiers clearing the map.
