Vs non-specials shock towers with soldier support work perfectly fine.
So i tried snipers and wasps but thats also not that great
if your playing 150 days you should have like 8000 pop and all the oil
that late in to the game its like 300 snipers 60+ thanatos and all the executors and walls yo can afford
so to answer your question
around 300 snipers
60 thanatos over 50 executors and 1 million stone walls
thats way overkill but with 150 days that should be no problem to achieve
All of this will play into a "Good defense".
None the less, lets just say your holding down one choke point. I always build a mix of executors and sniper towers from one end to the other. Then i place another line of the same thing right behind it as tight as i can. I place walls in front of just the first line and i build out with razor wire as far as i can from the line to the spawn point. Between my two lines i place Thanatos.
The whole point, is to get as much fire power as possible, in the smallest kill zone area as possible.
The key with snipers is to set the snipers to attack special infected. If you have enough snipers they will easily take them down, so no harpies climbing walls, fat boys acting like bullet sponges, or spitters attacking towers from a far.
Now some people think razor wire is useless. Its not. Its slowing them down and damaging them at the same time in the kill zone. The slower the unit, the more shots/damage it can take before hitting the walls.
Once in awhile though..I set shock towers out in the razor wire fields. I fully expect them to go down. I use them like recharging landmines that not only kill but push back. I only do this when i need extra fire power in the kill zone, with a small added bonus of making a more narrow approach path.
But like i said, it depends on the maps terrain. Some times i will make a U/Horseshoe shape defensive line, others it will be slanted or some times flat.
really it depends on time you can get away with far less than that but anything above 100 days is zzzzz as you get so much time to prepare i have literally the entire map covered in green with like 8k pop like 5k gold and way too many resources so i just spam defences
SS = shock tower
SS
T = sniper in Tower

set the towers and wasps on attack largest and have 2-3 thick walls atleast. that should
help for the most part with most problems. i dont think this is the best defence but it works
for me.
Failing that, shocking towers with snipers set to high is good if strapped for time and cash.
Over wise a mixed defence is always best. Ballista / executor alternating with shocking towers, supported by snipers in towers, Thanatos in back, lucifers in front sitting in traps with wasps, soldiers and titans filling in gaps is the supreme defence. Some units are better at AOE and overs at killing high priority targets. Always try to have at least one of each.
