Flamethrower operator. Lucifer - the relevance
Flamethrower at the moment highly specialized combat unit, to realize its potential, it can only in certain situations. But it is located in technological line with a much more relevant units that surpass it in terms of AOE damage or mobility. Perhaps Lucifer need to move to 1-1,5 technological level down (the level of the stone workshop) as an alternative to the shock tower. or even make a new building with a line of T3 development units.

I think thats why lucifers are thrown in for free with the required tech for titans and the like.
when you build an engineering center , you already have a large resource base and an increase in money. So players from purposefully goes to tantasy or titans. Lucifer flies right over.

well in campaign at least "Yes lucifers have always been useless in survival nothing new here" lucifers are god-like in campaign since there cheap allowing you to go wide faster but also there 1 major weakness "and only weakness" special infected do not come to play till late game that effectively means lucifers have no downside so yeah in that regard lucifers are OP "i might even say better than titans since for every titan you get you get 2 lucis" though yes i do agree the momment you get to like 60% of the campaign and specials start appearing that lucis are gonna drop in value significantly

They are cool though :steamhappy:

I still support the idea (from early days of early access) that Lucifers should be MUCH better tanks for them to have any place in survival or later campaign levels.
Like, +25% armor better. At least.

That's because lucifers are defensive units.

Think about it, they're a slow, short range unit with a flamethrower that stands ahead of the bulk of your army. They can take a few hits (which your supporting units should be keeping to a minimum) but venoms make them VERY difficult to use without micro. They have strong resistance to it but it puts the venoms out of range of the rest of your army.

If you set them up at a choke point or when draining a VoD and properly position your soldiers/snipers behind them they will decimate the horde as it approaches easily. If you're running around the map they're messy to use.

Lucifers work as horde wave defences prior to getting into a position to build a permanent foothold with Shock Towers. A few lucifers will absolutely decimate any basic horde with minimal support. That way you can keep your main army elsewhere clearing.

agreed lucifers are good at 1 thing and 1 thing only

killing chaff but thats the problem with oil lucy right? there a late game unit vulnerable to late game enemy like chubby has enough hp to out-tank lucifer venoms "even with resistance" will melt a group of lucifers and harpies hit like trucks and can get 1-2 hits off before dying

in campaign there god-tier cause of the fact that there just are not any specials "a few chubby but still" until very late in to the campaign but until then your literally unscathed and can go un-hindered but as soon as specials start becoming "common" then lucifer gets put in a trash can and while yes snipers can support its a pain to micro and make sure venoms stay in range of the snipers
Lucifer is strong when all conditions are met in their application. But why would I want to build Lucifer, when there is a Thanatos, which the defense can much more and has an AOE area, not in a straight line? or a powerful Titan, able to apply AOE damage and has a decent mobilnosti. Given that all units of the engineering center consume oil, it is impossible to build them in a sufficiently large number of plugging all vulnerabilities. That is why Lucifer should be moved to one or two technological levels down. Since it's a flamethrower, it's not nanotechnology or an exoskeleton. It's massive armor+mutant+flamethrower. It should be an alternative to the shock tower, in its current form. Or he needs to make a small cone of attack to maximize efficiency and compete with other high-tech units.

thanatos "In campaign" is rendered completely obsolete by shock towers but i do agree titans are better than lucifers
