If you have shocks/lucis, just go titan. If you're lacking aoe go thanatos fo sho.
If I choose one, I am a Titan ... They clear the map quick and easy.
but me? i go titan
In fact you could easily settle for just making thanatos alone and that would probably be enough to defend the entire last wave alone with the only other defense being a wall surrounding your thanatos and base.
Seriously? It depends on your playstyle. Thanatos can be good in areas where it is hard to get shocking towers. Titans can help clearing the map a lot and responding to sudden breaktrhoughs. If you can get one, titans can kite as well as rangers but with a big boost to survivability if something does wrong. Great when dealing with giants to tank a few hits whilst others burst him down.
Thanatos is better for defense.
Especially if you go for the +25% extra damage.
If you have multiple Thanatos, they usually overkill a lot with their shots, and their shots have a long reload time.
Plus shock towers just outshine thanatos for defense in campaign so titan hands down.
For survival the other way.
In survival you can have the map clear with just snipers on many maps before titans even come out so might as well go with the better pure defense thanatos and without shock tower buffs in survival there better than shocks IF you went iron tier you dont need to.
If your on a map you dont clear by time you get to iron tier read 50%+ of the map left such as map 6 with the doom city than use titans as them helping to clear the map is a bonus as there only slightly weaker for defense so the duel value wins.
Last time I checked, thanatos was supposedly broken op, made the game too easy etc.
Guess no more.
That hasen't been the case for a VARY long time. (basically start of early access) people thought that but the meta shifted 6 months or so with no change from the dev as the 50 day challenge came out and people learned just how bad going to iron tier was. Just using shock and skipping the massive upkeep and setup cost of oil and iron tier let you mass up a VASTLY larger army and shocks are only slightly weaker than a thanatos. Still needing snipers to back them up. So not going iron let you triple if not more your sniper army while only losing a small amount of aoe. That small loss of aoe is fine as its only there to kill fodder shocks one hit fodder same as thanatos so one being stronger vs the other dosen't matter. The snipers kill the important stuff and you got far more. You need to place 6 wall layers thou in the shock build for the final wave but all other waves are easier final wave is only slightly harder.
While camapign buffs shock out the roof thanatos gets no buffs at all.
The main reason for that thought was comparing shock vs thantos in a bottle disregarding the cost to unlock and maintain. While shock comes out much earlyer letting you deal with early waves better while snowballing with more gold vs iron tier rush. Making it easier at all points but the final wave slightly harder.
Even less reason to go to iron.
Exactly as wasps help to do the same job as snipers killing the high prio targets.
I would go iron for titans on the last mission thou and one other to tank mutants and giants.
Titans need a alternate skin. that guy in the top hat... shrugs.
