What does the victory points do?

The victory/score points are just that, score points, same as the ones you get in arcade games.

There are 4 Achievements related to score points.
If you don't care about them, then you shouldn't bother yourself with it, just enjoy the game at your own leisure and difficulty level.

Each time you get 1000 victory points, you get to chose a permanent mini bonus for your command center.

I thought the same but i dont remember my score so wasnt sure. Maybe they meant, you should get it?

For survival they are just for achievements and score.

On campaign...I believe they are still called victory points...let's you recruit more units during swarm missions.

Unlock wasp and even on apoc you just spam them to victory to make the swarms easy. Other than titan for the last few
