Defeat counter - what does it do?
Does it affect the score somehow? Or is it just for, ehem... fun?

Every time you lose a mission you get a percentage less on your score(victory points)... This does not affect your tech points (not sure if it affects anything at all).

it doesnt affect anything outside of score
