Why can't you save manually?
Or do you mean, you want to save and reload at a different point in the mission?
Currently you can save mid mission. Just hit the menu button or escape "Save and Exit".
That said, I find it quite impressive how much they're doubling down on shoving ironman down everybody's throat, considering how that's clearly not something a large chunk of the playerbase wants.
exactly. ever since the survival mode was the only thing and campaign was a distance thought that 'it could solve problems' ppl said they didnt want ironman and it should be optional.
for 'survival' mode it makes sense obviously. for campaign though there is no sense in making it into another survival mode. this is what i really hated about their announcements about campaign and how it turned out. they basically just made it survival mode with more frustration. since you have less tech, less space to work with, no immediate workers, railroads that get in the way of building things, etc. ... and you still have to deal with time limitations and swarms for a lot of it.
