Rotate view
Maybe a way to rotate the view so you can properly set buildings?

yep, camera rotation is extremely needed.

MonkehMaster. Take it easy, you are sounding very triggered here. You can tell by the shading and pixel artwork that the graphics engine for this game is fixed to an isometric perspective, and that will never change unless they redesigned it from the ground up.

It wouldn't matter how many people requested it. It is simply not a "feature" to be requested. Any video game that will have fully rotational perspective requires that consideration for all graphical elements from the very start of development.

I can explain more about why this is not the case. I'm hoping you get the hint.

Shakane is right, Look at the game. It doesn't have a true 3D engine, its 2.5 at the best.
This is like asking for camera rotation for the Diablo games, it was never something that was considered from the begining. The Developers would have to discard a massive amount of time and effort to do this.

You won't be able to rotate because whole game is build around that fake 3d.

Its optimized that way, models modelled that way. There is basicaly nothing behind buildings, pure transparency. Like a paper

alternatively a tool to flatten the map to a piece of paper would do the same pretty much

stronghold has this feature.

Yeah flatten would work, a hide obstacles button for cliffs\ trees would be good, or a mouse transparency option that shows the tiles near your mouse when obstacles are in the way would be nice as options.

dont listen to monkeymaster, he doesnt know anything about game development/game engines, but seems to think because its been implemented in numerous game it should be as easy as flipping a switch. we're talking about a massive feature (at this point) that would require reworking the game and how it renders entities...

developing a feature to render, and keep track of entity location dynamically depending on camera orientation is a huge undertaking...imo, i'd rather see resources being spent developing more units, more zombies, and (most importantly) a campaign.

The reason why it wont happen is because buildings and environment assets are 2D.

The best solution would to have a mapmode where you could see passable terrain in a highlighted colour.

Even with a 2.5D viewpoint you could implement fake rotation, since the units and terrain are essentially sprites
