Fast Forward Button
Hi everyone,

As much as I enjoy the game, I'd love to see a fast forward button to speed up the early and mid stages of the game, because the mid stage is when you're going around clearing the map, the rest of the time is just spent pausing and deciding where to improve your economy or base defenses next.

What do you guys think?

It'll allow us to skip the more boring and repetitive parts of the early to mid game like waiting for buildings to finish and allow us to focus more on the parts of the game that we enjoy or spend the most time actively doing.

If you're sitting around waiting then you're playing wrong or on too easy settings.

I'm actually always doing something. Granted I'm still on the first map, but I'm playing on challenging horde on 100 days and most of the time I reach the final wave and kill off about 50% of it with around 2000+ pop and at least 60+ turrets. Last time I had 90+ turrents. 40 of which were executors. I made some fatal errors though.

But what I'm saying is, I'd like certain parts to be sped up. This game already has a pause feature and it's a great feature to the game, so why not add in all the rest like Warhammer Total War to blitz through certain parts of the game faster and slow down others to enjoy them without having to pause?

No. If a game needs to be "fast forwarded" then other things are wrong with the game. A "fast forward" button is a band-aid; the game should be engaging from start to finish. Would you buy a movie that you had to skip past boring parts? If you have a beef with not enough to do early game, then ask for that to be addressed. Every game I have played with variable speeds really just means = play at max speed unless you want to be bored.

if you need to fast forward you are doing something wrong xD theres a reason why a PAUSE button was needed for this game

I finally beat the game after 45 hours for the first time and I'm still sticking to what I said. I would have preferred some parts to be fast forward.

The hordes never broke through and I extended to cover 90% of the map easily with around 90 turrents and about 1200 stone walls on the challenging horde and 100 days.

I understand what you mean runlevel, but I said that I only want to fast forward certain parts of the game as I did in my OP.

P.S. It finally feels great to have beaten the game (even if only a portion of it) and I feel like I "finally get it."

Like previous people have said, there's always something you could be doing to improve your current base/defenses, whether that be expanding even more, bolstering defenses or setting up new housing districts, etc.

If you're getting to a point where you've taken the entire map, have essentially run out of room to build things and have like 50 days left then it's time to up the difficulty.
What people in this thread failed to mention is that adding a fast-forward option is not as easy as it sounds. Everything has to be sped up, including pathing calculations and all that. 20,000 units is quite a large number in the first place, making all those calculations at even twice the speed would be very resource intensive.
id say instead of a FF better starting resources or the "Bonus" buildings to make the basics right off the bat. 1 Hunters, Fishers, sawmill and quarry. That will eliminate a need for FF.

1. this one
2. I can confirm that if you have parts where you have nothing to do, you are doing something wrong. Most likeley you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ your economy and dont have enough ressources to build and expand constantly.

1. I can understand if that would be too difficult to implement in this kind of game.
2. I can confirm that I wasn't.

All other comments about it being too easy if you need to fast forward it - I can agree on that.

Use cheat engine + speedhack. I have x3 speed bound to F3. It only speeds up the game, nothing else.

Why are you necroing a 18 month old thread. When this thread was made third party nodding and as such cheat engine the devs dint permit. So that doesn’t answer the ops questions of the time. Pick one of the many threads that opened in the last week on the same to talk about it.
