Need to play before start Laxius Soul sequel?

For those that didn't know, Fortress of Hell is part of the RPG series comprising of 8 Aldorlea games (3 Stars of Destiny, Laxius Power 1-2-3, Laxius Force 1-2-3, Fortress of Hell) I wonder given that Fortress of Hell is the next to last one timeline-wise in the series if it would be recommended to play through Fortress of Hell before starting Laxius Soul? Help defeating the Megalodon monsters underwater.

I'm fighting with the slave, Druk, and skeleton from Random's group, and just got some orb thingy.. I'm heading back, only at the entrance are these giant fish/shark pain in the butt monsters. I keep getting my ass handed to me, and I'm quite frustrated. This is my only save really, so I have little desire to start over....

Hello, everybody! Yesterday, I bought The Fotress of Hell + Official Guide package on 20% discount! There is no Guide to be found, though! The entry for the Guide in my 'Collection' opens the game itself, not the Guide! Does anyone know what happens and what could I do? Thank you!...
