Steam deck text unreadable

Tried playing this in the steam deck and it otherwise works perfectly but all the text looks like it's at a much lower resolution and pretty impossible to read. I want to be able to read item descriptions and the dialogue options I'm picking. Anyone know of any solutions?

I'm using default compatibility options and in game settings.

Found the fix. Had to open the steam deck quick menu, go to battery and disable half rate shading.
