We'd love to get the opportunity to do a next gen patch, but for now our resources are pretty much all tied up in the new project. That project won't be The Surge 3. It's time for something fresh 👀

I also read somewhere they want to use combat system in another game
I hope it isn't the lords of the fallen 2 but something similar to the surge or combat related because the death animations and extreme gore were awesome in the surge where you don't get that in any fromsoft game like overrated elden ring.
I agree, the first games are always better.
The Surge 2 is far improved over what the first offered: combat design, progression, level-design, heck even npc-interactions, nevermind technicaly.
Also i do hope that there will be a The Surge 3 one day, perhaps playing during the teased Miner Wars, and going even more sci-fi.
The melee-combat in part 2 is just very well done, it plays extremely well. take the statues in Gideon's Park: depending on what part you cut off, they completely feel different to fight, take out their legs, they become a stationary aoe-deathtrap, take out their spear, they deal elemental damage with their left, the body has the most hp but taking it out ends the fight.
that's just one example, the same applies to many (most encounters).
the level design alone..each level feels different, kinda works different. from straight and narrow, to large contained, interconnected spaces like the park.
with the attribute mechanic, the new drones, the improved implant system, the set-boni also progression and building feels great, it's just not as straight foreward as it is in many other souls-likes.
and while the writing is hit'n miss for sure, they realy upped the plot-presentation.
it sorta kinda failed on launch, severe performance issues on consoles (playing on PS4 pro back then was a nightmare, fps below 10 wasn't rare), the dependency on Vulkan and some issues that always occure with drivers, also the lack of marketing and a release window that saw not just many other big games, but also some other souls-likes.
it's still one of the best not From souls games out there. if they manage to create even more difference between weapon choices, make none-melee builds easier to achive and get some real marketing the franchise will have a future.
Would be nice to hear from Deck13; not necessarily that Surge 3 is confirmed (although I'd take it
They didn't said what they do but when you see what kind of people they hire and what they have done so far (3 Melee Combat Games) i am pretty sure it will be
1. Melee combat.
2. Bigger worlds maybe Open world (hope not though)
I enjoyed all 3 games they made and they are getting better all the way so i am looking forward for whatever they cook up next.
I enjoyed surge 1 and 2... Not sure what the other game was.
First game they did was (Lords of the Fallen). A Soulslike as well with kinda mixed opinions.
I enjoeyed it enough to play through it (it's a rather short game).
It had good ideas but was badly executed on other parts. Overall not a bad "first" game for a company.
Ah yes, i played it back on ps4 but wasn't fond of it. Kinda remidned me of god of war/souls like. The combat was really slow.
I agree, surge 2 had more variety of armor and weapons and locations. The surge 1 was good due to story that i much prefer.
